Thanks Andrew – I can probably adapt this for my use.

I already know the limited account can do this. Plus I have given that acccount full control of the database itself and the whole suite of Office programs. But the problem remains. Its certainly a tricky one. Thanks for your help.

I can add an order directly to the table and it will create an order ID but using the order form links a number of tables so it may not be real test of the system.

The account is basically a group policy limited account. Its a generic account to give limited functionality to mainly a Citrix application but we also use it so staff can access a number of other programs for daily use. I don’t have the specifics of what is locked down in group policy. Maybe I will have to investigate at that end.

I can add directly into the table. However, I have just tried it again and can now see that the problem is that it can’t create an OrderNo (autonumber field) for the order. Still can’t see why it won’t under this limited user account ….sigh???

That’s probably what should have been done originally. However we now have about a dozen databases that are used by lots of staff and I would have to fix up all of them. Will look to do this for future databases.

Thanks – will give that a try.

Thanks for the info – I will keep it in mind when they send the next files.

The PC that they will open straight away on is a Windows 2000 PC with Office 2000. The PC’s that have a problem are all XP with all version of Office. I guess the bug/feature comes from XP. I have spoken to India and they are going to move their templates off the server onto their local PC”s. So hopefully that will solve our problem.
      Thanks for your help.

The templates were created here and sent to India so shouldn’t they already be in the templates directory? I have sent the problem through to them to fix up their template location so hopefully they can fix it at their end.

Thanks – See reply to other post.

Thanks for the input – I think I have solved the problem. The documents that take too long to open have a certain template location under Tools > Template and Addins which has a UNC name pointing to a server in India I presume (ServerMT on MTTemplatesMicrobiology – LPIDR – KK.dot). The others that open OK point to a local directory on each of the transcribers PC’s (C:Documents and SettingsHCLDesktopHelen3-8-06IDR – IG.dot). I think Word is trying to locate the server then eventually gives up and uses the local normal.dot template. I will give this information to the transcriber service to fix it from their end.

Sorry an extra request. The macro does not work for changes in the header or footer. Is there a way to include theses areas in the same macro.
      Thanks heaps in advance.

We don’t use roaming profiles. I will try try some other standard user accounts though to see if they give the same problem.
