    • in reply to: Microsoft : How to install Windows 11 on incompatible PCs #2394153

Windows 10 can be upgraded to RTM Windows 11 simply by using the Windows 10 installation media with the \sources\install.wim (or \sources\install.esd) replaced with the same file from the Windows 11 installation media

Can you write a topic that explain the exact steps to do that.

    • in reply to: Computer compatibiliy with Windows 11 #2373827

Also they say that you need a Microsoft account tou install Win 11.

They really want to get control on everything. This pissed me off.

The article say “System firmware UEFI, Secure Boot capable” so that means older PC with legacy BIOS won’t be compatible. What a good marketing strategy to force people to buy a new computer.
      It suck’s.

I think I know what happened. When I was on 1909, I have installed a group policy editor that adds it to Home version and when I upgraded to 20H2, it has been disabled !

    • in reply to: metered connection #2354928

This is weird because I swear that when I was on 1909, I was setting a  metered connection and then click on resume updates and they were appearing in the queue but they did not install and I had a “download”button. Also there was a notice saying “when youre ready to install these updates, click on dowload” !!! And this was on Win 10 1909 Home !

    • in reply to: metered connection #2354751

So how come that when I was on Win10 1909, when I was setting a metered connection and then resume updates, they were showing but not installed. Since I am on 20H2, when I set a metered connection and then unpaused updates, they installed automaticaly.

I have exported to key and delete it and reboot. No change, 2004 is not offered and I don’t have Conextant drivers. Some people say to install with media creation tool but it could mess up PC if there are incompatibility

    • in reply to: OS upgrade #2347844

I just remember that I had set this key to zero 2 years ago because I didn’t want to

be force to update to Win 10 when I was on Win 7. Now that I am on Win 10, 1909,

should I set this key to a value of “1” .

It is not a Windows account password, it is a Windows “user” account.

He’s talking about your Windows password when you power on your PC or when you close a session or when you change the user in the Start/stop options.

There is some tweaks that can skip this and your password is not asked.

Is it dangerous to use a browser that “remember” passwords ?

Can the browser be hacked ?

    • in reply to: On Windows 10 1909, Just Offered 20H2 in WU #2343994

Update: 20H2 installed successfully without taking any actions with my Conexant audio drivers. I don’t appear to have any audio issues either.

Your lucky, I’m on Win 10 1909 and have not been offered 2004 neither 20H2.

    • in reply to: upgrade to 2004 #2340074

Thanks for your answer Paul but before trying it, I was just wondering if the “block” could be because I have old Realtek drivers ? It is a 2011 audio card !
