Sound like we are on the right tract, but could you please give me a step by step. I’m not very proficient with Word.

      Thanks

Unless these two statements are added by default, they should not be anywhere in the form code.

In table view an error message appears and the record is not added. On a form, no error message appears and the record is again not added. The user of this little app needs some notification that the record he is trying to add was not successful because of a duplicate bag number.

Even though an error message does not appear, the rule of the index does not allow a new record to be added with the same bag number. So there is only one record.

The record was saved but no error appeared. I only want the error to appear when the record is saved.

Thanks, Wendell. We’ll give the keystrokes a try. I would also be very interested in the VBA code if someone will post it. Thanks again for all the help.

My problem is getting the first initial of the first name. Both first and last names are in the same field and are separated by a comma. Example: Hollingsworth,Cecil. What I need to do is get HolC – that is the first three letters of the last name AND the first initial of the first name. I need the first letter past the comma and cannot figure out how to get it.

    • in reply to: Intermittent WinXP Drive Mapping Failure (Windows XP Pro) #625387

Did you ever get an answer to your problem. I’m having the same problem using XP Pro on a Novell 5.1 network. My drive mappings through XP want to be serverfolderuserfolder. What I want them to be is serverroot. (Ex. H: not H:userjdoe). Let me know if you’ve found a solution. I’ve remapped through XP – My computer, but the settings don’t stick. Thanks.

Thanks, guys. We were able to get to settings in the program itself. We changed the size of the font and that changed the size of the window. I guess stranger things have happened. Thanks for all your help.

    • in reply to: XP and Telnet (XP Pro) #621489

Oh, if it were that simple. I tried it and got no response. Let me see if I can give a little more detail. The program we use to Telnet is QWS3270. I can tell you nothing other than that except we have been using it for the last six years in Win95 and Win98 and it always works. The title bar of the windows says Windsock 3270 Telnet – and gives the routing to the state mainframe. The application is open in the window and waiting for a login name and password. The window is about 5 inches wide and covers most of the screen from top to bottom. It always opens on the far left of the screen. The usual buttons on the top right are there (minimize, maximize, and close) but the max button is grey. When you hover at the edge of the window, I do not get arrows that indicate I can change the size. I tried going to the properties in the shortcut and choosing run in maximized window but that does not change what I get. I also tried changing the display settings to run 800×600 with no change to the program. Any other suggestions?

That’s it! This time I’ll print it and paste it on the wall. Thanks for you help.

You are absolutely right. Carelessness on my part. I was using the same name for the control and the field. Thanks for jogging my memory.
