You’re absolutely right. I changed the main post.

ManagerOctober 14, 2020 at 10:44 pm in reply to: Comments on Abbodi86’s Win7 ESU Installer Script (2020 Archive) #2304384Not sure I understand. @PKCano’s post points to the three .NET patches for Win7 and 2008 R2. Those are the ones affected.
I should’ve mentioned that the re-releases were for Win7. I’ll make that change now.

ManagerI’ve done that occasionally, too.
Bottom line is that it isn’t part of the standard package that we’re using. It would cost a lot of money to fix it — and potentially introduce compatibility problems.
Sorry about that.

ManagerOctober 4, 2020 at 11:48 am in reply to: Patch Lady – what would you change about Windows 10? #2300964From my Computerworld post on Friday:
I’m still not ready to put Windows 10 version 2004 on my main machines. The “E Week” optional, non-security patch, KB 4577063, fixes two well-known bugs and many dozens of lesser bugs (none of which were officially documented, by the way) in the latest released version of Windows 10. @mikemeinz has hit several replicated bugs in Win10 version 2004, and bug reports continue to hit my inbox.

ManagerFrom mpw:
below is what AT&T said.
“It does look like IPv6 is being used in your area, which may be the reason for the change. Are you noticing any issues while browsing? If so, you can try manually assigning a DNS on your device to see if it resolves any browsing issues. Let us know if you have further questions, we’re here to help.
Genevieve, AT&T Community Specialist”
I ran across something about reverse lookup too but did not understand it. The link you offered, I think, indicates it is probably happening with IPv4 and IPv6 and has to do with security at the IP address not my modem or internet service provider or browser.
Thanks.

ManagerWe’re still on MS-DEFCON 2 because there’s nothing in the September patches that warrants immediate action.
Let’s give it another day or two.

Managert has been known for at least 11 weeks that the scheduled RETRIM function fails on HDDs, resulting only in a harmless Event Log error
Yes. The bug is that Windows tries to RETRIM an HDD.
Only with iCloud, as you originally reported.
Quite correct.

Patch reliability is unclear. Unless you have an immediate, pressing need to install a specific patch, don't do it. |
