• Win7 64-bit security hole no biggie

Microsoft just issued Security Advisory 2028859, which talks about a “new public report” of a security hole in the 64-bit Canonical Display Driver. (Doncha just love the new seven-digit KB numbers?)

Actually, the report came in about six weeks ago, on the Irfanview forum.

As of this moment, the only problem I’ve seen is a BSOD – nobody’s figured out how to use the security hole to get into your system. Not exactly a big deal. But if you’re super-paranoid and running a 64-bit Win7 system, just turn off Aero and you can’t get blue-screened.
