    • Did you install using Windows Update or from the Microsoft Update Catalog?

I installed using Windows Update (i.e., Clicking on “Check for Updates.”)

Other answers are at  post-#2111395, including an image of the “installed updates” screen.

No error messages, though — just a 2nd entry in Update History for KB4528760 (the 1st was January 14, Patch Tuesday) and no sign of KB4532695.

    • I’m not sure, but probably.

If so, I can probably expect this with my other Windows 10 machine on which I also disabled IE 11.  It is using version 1909 and 2 days ago, I deferred CUs for 21 days, I will know later.

And, if the same thing happens with my customized Desktop icons for the web (URLs) on that machine, I will know what to do.

BTW, is the day of deferral counted as the 1st day?  Or is the day after, counted as the 1st day?  And when it expires, can I expected them on the 22nd day (which is the day after the deferral expires).  Or does the CU update(s) happen on the day of expiry?

    • go to Settings, Apps, Apps & features, Default Apps, Choose default apps by file type, .URL, Choose a default, Internet Browser.

      Voilà!!

Was it the disabling of IE 11 that caused this problem??

    • Today’s CU is optional, being week D, so I don’t think you’ll see it unless you click “Check for updates”:

I did “Check for Updates” and that’s how the two updates (KB4534132 and KB4528760 initiated.  I did a “Check for Updates” afterwards at 4:17 PM EST and then again just now at 10:06 PM EST.  No KB4532695 yet.

I think the apparently repeated CU you see is really an SSU, so check installed updates for today

Attached is the screen from Installed Updates, which shows only KB4524132 [the .NET update],  so apparently there was no SSU today, January 28.  Which might explain the reason that I didn’t get KB4532695, i.e., the replacement for KB4528760?

Maybe, MS will figure out that there was an error in installing KB4528760 a 2nd time and will sooner or later send down the pipeline the necessary SSU, inside of which is wrapped KB4532695??

    • I am running version 1903, Build 18362.592 and just had the January 28 CU and .NET patches installed. The .NET patch is KB4534132, as expected. However, the CU patch was (again) KB4528760, previously installed on January 14

The customized Desktop URLs (shortcuts to the web) are now replaced with blank icons.  Maybe, they will come back in time.  I can reapply them, if need be, though.

    • I create a daily Shadow copy (scheduled) , used it once to restore a file.

Could I ask:  how do you create a daily scheduled Shadow copy?  I’m new at Windows 10, just recently convinced to move over to it fully committed (rather than apply for a Win 7 ESU). After all those years on Windows 7 and all those years of Vista before that, I am not a raw novice, but I do need some hand-holding until I get better at finding my own way around.

Others, too, reading this, would appreciate the information, maybe.

    • I am running version 1903, Build 18362.592 and just had the January 28 CU and .NET patches installed.

The .NET patch is KB4534132, as expected.  However, the CU patch was (again) KB4528760, previously installed on January 14.  Microsoft Catalog says that KB4528760 is replaced by KB4532695, but that didn’t happen. I still have KB4528760 — Build 18362.592 (and for a second entry in Update History).

Afterwards, I shut down with a RESTART to see if the new/replacement Jan 28 CU patch would install. It did not.

I have no CU deferral days set.  The optional Feature Update, 1909 is still waiting to be installed with the “Download and install now” link present.

The only change to my system between January 14 and January 28, that I can think of is that I uninstalled/disabled IE 11.

Any conjectures as to why the new/placement CU patch KB4532695 did not install??  Is it a SSU problem?

    • I’m not using File History at present, but I do use Restore Points.

Do you manually create your Restore points?  Or do you schedule them?  Or does the system automatically schedule them?

    • CONFIGURE SHADOW COPY FOR WINDOWS 10

Are you the Alex that made a comment on May 7, 2017 at the site?  Do you use it?  Does it work reliably for you?  What do you see when you click on the Open button?

Ah, I see you beat me to it.

yep, and I gave the reason for my editing.

But, I don’t see my edited post anymore, just yours, so it’s water under the bridge.

Double-double thanks again for your help.

P.S. It would be great if there were a button to get a preview screen.

    • in reply to: How to use God Mode in Windows 10 #2110947

Can you create a God Mode folder on one Windows 10 PC and then copy it to another Windows 10 PC. Since I sync my two Windows 10 PCs, I need to know if the folder is idiosyncratic to the PC it is on or not.

      — can be found here.

Another way, which keeps a record of disabling/enabling, at the link “See optional feature history”:

Start, Settings, Apps, Apps & features, Optional features, Internet Explorer 11, Uninstall.

This … is off-topic for a general thread about “Where we stand with 2020 patches.”

So, if somebody makes a suggestion here (e.g., uninstalling IE or deferring), you shouldn’t be asking for further information or help about it here??

Start, Settings, Apps, Apps & features, Optional features, Internet Explorer 11, Uninstall.

I read a post by PKCano

IE is an integral part of the Widows Operating System. If you turn it off, what you are doing is simply making it inaccessible from the GUI. It cannot be uninstalled, and other System processes still use it.

that says it’s not possible to uninstall IE.

Or does the “uninstall” that comes up after following your directions actually “disable”??

No. I’d forgotten then that you’re going with PKCano’s approach of setting 2 = Notify download/install in Group Policy. So leave Defer quality updates at 0 in that case.

Yes, I’m looking into using the Group Policy Editor, but I have to read up on it, so that I know what I’m doing. I’ve received some posts that give me a better idea of where to find Windows Update there. But, I want to read completely and understand Woody’s article on Configuring Updates first. In the meantime, given that there may be Week C/Week D updates for 1909 on the horizon, I need to pin some strategy down sooner than later.

Thanks for remembering my earlier post.
