This may be old news by now. I just successfully tried the newest simple way to extend the pause updates date as mentioned on your forum.

I am a cautious soul, so am staying with Win 1903 build 18362.535 from November 1st 2019.

I have been able to keep extending the update resume date by first ensuring that I am not connected to the internet, (Wireless off) and disable any Ethernet in network connections. No need to unplug cables etc.

I then click resume updates, it fails (thankfully) and this gives me the ability to click ‘pause updates for 7 days’ multiple times to get a new resume date. That date is currently 4/4/2020. I last did this yesterday (February 29th).

I have been doing this every few weeks for the last few months, so have an infinite extension going.

Not going to update until you report that the ‘disappearing desktop’ issue is resolved – hopefully before a new set of buggy updates arrive.
