AskWoody PlusMay 1, 2025 at 10:13 pm in reply to: 2000014: Ongoing List of Apple Operating System Updates #2769663Updated iPhone 14 from iOS 18.3.1 to 18.4.1 and broke CardDAV Contacts and CalDAV Calendar connections.
See Apple Support thread iOS 18.4 / iPadOS 18.4 breaks CardDAV / CalDAV.
As per the post by MFuchs77, this is an open case with Apple, Ticket ID 102565021690. MFuchs77 also posts that Apple changed the DAV protocol in iOS / iPadOS 18.4 such that if there are special characters in the username (typically an @ where the username is an email address), the special characters are replaced by escaped characters (%40 in this case), which is not supported by the server side, breaking the connection.
As per the post by dhfried, the solution that worked for me was to replace the @ in my username with a newly typed @ and tap Done (for both my CardDAV Contacts account and my CalDAV Calendar account). Once completed, the DAV accounts successfully connected again.

AskWoody PlusUnfortunately, Firefox is not on the machine running Norton 360. As Susan indicated, it seems that Norton is ‘seeing’ the fake “Verification Steps” image as part of something malicious.

AskWoody PlusHi Susan. I have Norton 360 installed on one of my machines (Windows 11 23H2 fully patched). When I browse to the latest April 14 Newsletter, I get the popup message below. This is the first time I’ve seen this on Askwoody.
Is it possible that this is being triggered by Brian Livingston’s article, as the Norton message refers to FakeCaptcha-D?
Can I assume that this is Norton being overly protective? Wasn’t sure if this was the best place to post this, so my apologies as this is not quite thread related.

AskWoody PlusNo. I use InControl to keep Windows 11 at 23H2, and had Windows Update paused. When I unpaused Windows Update yesterday, KB5053602 downloaded and installed (seemingly without incident – only a single reboot required).
Interestingly, I did download and manually install the Windows 11 23H2 Enablement Package last June (as was recommended). That may explain why KB5027397 did not show up under the Feature Updates listing.

AskWoody PlusThanks for your feedback – what you’re seeing is what I was expecting.
I’m running Windows 11 Home Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.5039). Clicking on “View installed updates” in Control Panel takes me back to the Settings App.
There are four Uninstallable Updates listed in Update History, as per the following:
The Windows 11 23H2 Enablement Package (KB5027397) also never showed up under the Feature Updates listing, even though it successfully installed. The other two Uninstallable Updates (KB5012170 and KB5049624) are found under the Quality Updates list. Other updates recently installed have showed up in the Update History listing.
As everything appears to be running without errors, I am inclined to call it a day, and see what happens next month, and when I eventually make the transition to Windows 11 24H2 (once Susan gives us the green light).

AskWoody PlusSuccessfully installed KB5053602, 2025-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems, according to Event Viewer log and Uninstall Updates listing, as per the following screen captures:
Strangely, KB5053602 does not appear under the Quality Updates list of Update History, as previous Monthly Cumulative Updates did (see the following screen capture):
dism /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth indicated “No component store corruption detected”. sfc /scannow indicated “Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.”
Anyone else seeing this with KB5053602 (for the first time)?

AskWoody PlusDecember 23, 2024 at 5:55 pm in reply to: USERS ONLY Standalone installer script for Windows 7 ESU, regardless the license #2728110The final comment from the Author, which was from last week (Comment-2550661904) indicates “So, as it is definitely confirmed that this issue is fixed, I hereby declare this issue closed.”
As I have not installed the December update (KB5048695) myself, I can only contribute that everything I’ve seen so far has indicated that the issue has been resolved. I will be installing KB5048695 once Susan provides the green light.
