And you mean all pc’s in the network not just the one concerned and the server?
      No restart needed?

      And Paul, any other suggestions?

      TIA

meaning also on the pc’s that don’t have the problem? including the server of course. Do I use the MS Fixit for that or rather through HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesTcpip6Parameters and DisabledComponents on

Also installed latest driver for NIC (from Intel directly): PRO/100 VE. No difference.

tnx Joe, will look into that. But disable it on the new server or on the pc?
Paul, these are the results with a 700mb file:
from pc to server A 1:23
from pc to server B: 1:26
from server A to pc: 1:17
from server B to pc: 15:41
Now, if that isn’t conclusive 😉

      Any ideas?
      TIA

Hi Paul, just tried as you suggested.
      1. Copy from the PC to server A. 0:03
      2. Copy from the PC to server B. 0:03
      3. Copy from server A to the PC. 0:02
      4. Copy from server B to the PC. 0:34
      5. Copy from server B to server A. 0:37
      6. Copy from server A to server B. 0:05

Where A is the one with SBS 2003 and
B the one with SBS 2011 Essentials

      A remarkable difference, isn’t it?
And the problem must be at the SBS 2011, I gather.
      Although other aren’t complaining.

Any input will be welcome of course.

      TIA

      Hi all,
I’d like to hear a comment on this issue from the hd manufacturers. Or don’t they read this lounge? 🙁

      Hi Fred,

A reason to leave the battery in the notebook is for having electricity on-the-go. Like sitting on your sofa and wanting to take that site to show somebody elsewhere in the room. Disabling or disconnecting the mains is rather out of the question without the battery.

      Hi,
Found the problem. A user changed the settings of the SATA settings in the BIOS. That way xp-drivers that were installed at the original configuration would not load anymore. Linux uses other drivers to load SATA-drives. Seems to be a common problem, according to HP. Not restricted to HP though. Had to use the restore CD to get back to the original state.
Better password protect that BIOS (do I hear: YES ?)
      Byron indicated this problem.

      Tnx all,
      Sjors

      Hi guys (and/or dolls),

      Tnx for thinking with me.
Checked your suggestions, afraid they didn’t help.
You seem to be missing two important issues:
      1. Even without a harddisk, using the XP cd-rom I get the BSOD with this error!
      2. Using a cd or usb with Linux as a starter I don’t get the error, even with the hd attached!

That’s what making this problem so weird, at least to me.

      tnx again,
      Sjors

      hi mercyh,

No can’t access that either. Already tried about 10 possible solutions on that matter, like modfying the registry and starting services. No luck.

BTW the suggested fix of MS made it work for 2 days, now I’m back from where I started.

      tnx

      Hi Joe,
Sorry, didn’t notice this post was moved.
      No, I didn’t.
Shouldn’t be the problem because connecting with a wire will disconnect the wireless automatically.
Besides there’s no wireless connection there.
Browsing is allright with this wired connection, just the local network is not seen.

      tnx

      Hi Fred,
Regarding your comment on the external USB-drive:
just had someone who uses his notebook with a USB-dongle.
Couldn’t connect to this provider anymore.
Found out this one port on his notebook didn’t produce enough power to get him/it going.
No problem on the second USB-port.

Just an add-on to your comment or rather an illustration of it.

      Regards,
      Sjors

    • in reply to: Setting a fixed IP loses internet connection #1225827

      Hi David,
Just this morning I had a reaction of the Norwegian installer of this pc. He writes:
The pc was originally configured with a fixed IP, due to the wireless remote control unit.
This type of equipment responds very badly to dynamic/DHCP enabled networks.

That declares a lot, don’t you people think?
