    • in reply to: Patch Lady – 1903 is now officially released #2369066

The issue with the Intel F200 3D camera now seems irredeemable according to MS and Intel threads I’ve found. Something prevents Hello from opening the camera then the MS camera app says that another app has control of the camera.

Intel suggest https://support.intelrealsense.com/hc/en-us/articles/360022951533-Windows-10-Issues-with-Intel-RealSense-Cameras-SR300-and-F200 which worked when the issue originally appeared but now doesn’t fix it with the latest release. I’ve now reset my PC (re-upgraded to the latest release) so am no longer able to revert to previous builds or remove updates so I’m stuffed. The normal Front camera works with Zoom and Skype. The Capability Access Manager Service cannot start which causes the ‘other app’ (presumably Hello) issue. I’ve now disabled the 3D Camera (Front F200) Depth and the 3d Camera Virtual Driver under Imaging Devices, and lost Hello and use of the Camera App which I can live with. Dell Intel Camera users have similarly been disenfranchised, but as the devices are no longer supported I’m guessing that MS will feel no need to fix what they have broken… See https://community.intel.com/t5/Items-with-no-label/How-to-fix-the-service-driver-in-Windows-10-1903-for-F200-camera/td-p/671666

    • in reply to: USB Headset – “Your microphone isn’t working” #2344888

I had some microphone/webcam weirdness on the latest update, and have not bottomed it out yet. On a Lenovo All-in-One with Intel 3d camera, the internal microphone sensitivity died. I then tried an old Logitech C170 webcam, which used to work, and showed the same problem (and no option for microphone boost). If you tapped it you got a faint indication of input shown on the microphone test. I backed out the update on the Lenovo (via restore point) – and the PC refused to boot! How does ‘Restore’ always know when to foul up? I did a bare-metal restore from Server Essentials, delayed updates and will experiment further after my monthly Zoom call tomorrow… Experimentation with the C170 on other PCs indicates that MS no longer support it(?).

      Anyone else experienced issues?

Updated to 1909 on 4 PCs – HP laptop, Surface Pro, Levovo and a BSA (bits stuck anywhere). All done pretty instantaneously with 2 reboots and no waits for updating/configuring. The ‘What’s New’ link just shows hints and tips with no clue as to what has changed…
