Using Windows 1909, it is so weird that Microsoft still offers the problematic KB5000808 instead of the newer KB5001648. what is the rational behind that?!

Does anyone know what happens when 1909 goes out of support and you have set TargetReleaseVersionInfo = 1909 ? Does the update get force installed?

March 2, 2021 at 3:25 am in reply to: “Stuttering” glitch on a brand-new PC #2347392

I stopped using CCleaner when they were acquired by Avast and then started pulling pranks such as silently adding telemetry data collection, pushing ads, etc…  and I haven’t noticed any performance degradation or any adverse effects.

CCleaner might have been useful in the days of limited hard disk space, but nowadays, it is just bloatware and a false sense of optimization.

January 27, 2021 at 8:05 am in reply to: Excess heat during laptop recharging? #2338026

I have a hard time trusting any freeware that makes grand promises such as “prevent PC overheating”. How could it possibly achieve that?

The only things you can do are: make sure nothing is hogging resources in the background, proper cooling/ventilation, and not charging your battery to 100% and keeping it at 100% all the time (apart from generating excess heat, this will destroy batteries faster).

I haven’t installed October patches yet. Is this Flash uninstaller going to be automatically pushed by Windows Update or do you have to do it manually?

FYI it sneaks itself as “Windows Update Assistant” in Apps & Features, not Installed Updates! very very sneaky!

Some of this stuff is above my head. Any chase you could make an all-in-one .reg or .bat file to apply the settings? Thanks for the great info nonetheless.

Could you please make an all-in-one, one-click .reg or .bat file that applies all the recommended windows update settings, especially for Home version which lacks some of the GUI?

      Much appreciated.
