AskWoody PlusI wasn’t sure, I thought that I’d rather be safe than sorry. Next question: Do I put one of the rescue disks that I already created into the CD/DVD drive and load it into the computer then reboot my computer to test it? I am learning, but I just don’t quite know how to use the rescue disk now that I have them.

AskWoody PlusI have a few questions about MediaMonkey. I decided to forego the bar code scanner for an inexpensive USB connected CD/DVD drive. Basically, how does MediaMonkey work? Is it as simple as putting in a CD or DVD and it scanning the disc? Are you able to keep the information it finds stored on your computer? Can you share your library of CD/DVD disc’s information?

AskWoody PlusI reached out to the builder of my computer and I got my computer backup done he suggested this website using windows software as outlined here:
https://www.windowscentral.com/how-backup-windows-10-automatically
I was able to create 3 Repair discs using windows software. Now do I need to create bootable recovery USB drives also? Other than that, my issue has been mostly resolved. Thank you all for your invaluable help.

AskWoody PlusI figured out that I will use a different backup program such as EaseUS Todo. Will it give me instructions somewhere to create at least 3 USB rescue flash drives? Or a rescue CD? I can make more than one of each, that isn’t a problem. I’d just like to know what steps should I take first. Oh and by the way, when I tried to do a backup to my external HDD Seagate Portable Drive. It said size of backup is 0 bytes. Do I need to have that corrected before using another backup program?

AskWoody PlusI am using the basic Windows software that came with my computer. Why, are there alternatives?

AskWoody PlusI have a USB 3.0 HDD and my computer recognized it. I went to the backup section and selected to stop using my current drive before using another drive. But was given no option to add a drive. However after a moment, it went to the control panel and I had to turn it on the drive. So I did that, I thought it wasn’t doing anything. So I went to the web to research the forum in backing up a computer in Windows 10. When I came back it had said I needed to download the file history. How do I do that? Or is it too late? Please help, I don’t know what to do next.

AskWoody PlusI tried to back up my computer to an external Hard Drive. My computer didn’t have the option to add a drive and I am lost in trying to figure out how to set it up. The instructions that were stated in the forum don’t quite show you how to add a drive to backup your computer. So I am lost as to what to do next. I have Windows 10 version 2004.
Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

AskWoody PlusFebruary 13, 2021 at 7:35 pm in reply to: When creating bootable CD/DVD and recovery flash drive #2343412I had read that CD/DVD disks make a more robust bootable option. Was I misled, what should I need in case my computer won’t boot up?

AskWoody PlusFebruary 13, 2021 at 7:32 pm in reply to: When creating bootable CD/DVD and recovery flash drive #2343411I went to create just a bootable CD in my CD/DVD drive. After a couple of minutes a screen popped up asking for a flash drive with at least 18 GB of space. I have Windows 10 version 2004 if this helps any.

AskWoody PlusI use Google Chrome for my web browser. If I choose to remain with Chrome. Would there be any reason why I would want 20H2? If it’s better to use Microsoft’s web browser. May I import all of my Chrome bookmarks to it? I also have a Chromebook. If I imported my bookmarks to Edge, would my Chromebook lose access to them?
Any and all help would be appreciated.

AskWoody PlusFebruary 12, 2021 at 6:04 am in reply to: Using USB flash drive for both windows and on a Chromebook #2342962So far recently I haven’t needed to use my USB flash drives. I have already moved all my files onto both drives. I will make note of on how to format a USB drive for future use. Should the need arise. Luckily the slowishness/unresponsiveness lasts for just a few moments when it did happen.
Thanks for your advice.

AskWoody PlusPaul,
Do I have to use my CD/DVD drive in my computer to use this software? I’d rather not if required to do, to spare the extensive use of my CD/DVD drive in order to catalog my collection. I have purchased a UPC bar code scanner and I am looking for software that works with the scanner. If this clarifies.

AskWoody PlusFebruary 11, 2021 at 7:30 am in reply to: Using USB flash drive for both windows and on a Chromebook #2342664Thanks for the advice. If I were to format the USB flash drive on my Windows 10 2004 version computer. How would I go about in doing so? Yes I do have a 3.x blue USB port on my computer which I have used.
