      Thanks for your contact.
Tried the double click but whilst it enlarges to full screen there is no picture. I should add that the full screen picture shows for just a split second and then blanks out.

Same here but I thought there must be an easy way to use the ‘safe option’.
      Thanks for your reply

Hei Hans and Godt Nytt År.
Solved my problem … this may be of interest to other readers who find new installs of eg QuickTime grab defaults from eg Windows Media Player. I went to Control Panel/Programmes/Default Prog/Set default and then looked at all the listed programmes including WMP. Got them as I wanted!
      Regards

      Hei Hans,
Well I dumped all the software previously downloaded for QuickTime and the iTunes and then just loaded a fresh copy of the latest QT. And up came the same problem in that all the preferences are greyed out. I then took a look at Apple’s users comments and found many complains about different aspects of their new QT release … so I guess its a case of wait and see!
Many thanks for your inputs and help.
      regards
      Ron

      Hei again
My QT Preferences page looks a bit different … see attached. Maybe they have changed it. All the items are in an expanded form on the MIME or File page but all are now greyed out. Think I may have to dump the software and reload.
      Regards
      Ron

      Thanks Hans.
The ‘Clear check boxes’ simply does not function, they are now all greyed out and I can’t seem to change this so maybe I have a download mix up!
And, of cause, it says on their web page that they only offer technical help to those with Mac’s!
Ah well, lets enjoy Christmas first.
      Regards

      Hello again Hans.
Well I decided to give myself a present before Christmas and downloaded the iTunes/Quicktime software that was one of the ones you mentioned. I played with the settings and stupidly clicked on the Quicktime Edit/Preferences/Quicktime Preferences/Browser/MIME settings/Select All/Save. Hmm, it was only an experiment !!! but now I do not seem to be able to go back to the default settings that I had selected … I don’t want QT to ‘grab’ everything from WMP.
The QT Help seems to suggest that it is flexible and settings can be changed???
Do you/anyone think that my only way out is to ditch the download and redo it? I can now download the mp4 videos (great) but do I need both QT and iTunes to do this … they came as one download but seem to be two separate programmes. Anyone got experience of this stuff?

Thanks Hans. I will take a look after Christmas.
      All the best

Sounds as if this may well be the problem!
I will have a look around and look at changing my date/time set up as you suggest … will wait a while though just in case HP fix it!
      Thanks Hans

    • in reply to: Java Script error 2739 (Home Premium) #1085482

      Hello again.
After sorting out the Javascript problem and then downloading the new HP Health Check, I am left with another problem that does not let me access the new Health Check … other HP users must have the same problem?
Is there a solution to the following message:
‘String was not recognised as a valid DateTime’

    • in reply to: Java Script error 2739 (Home Premium) #1085371

      Thanks Hank, it worked fine!
But there is always a ‘but’ it seems … I downloaded the HP all OK and it then wanted me to update various aspects. To cut a long story short, I now have a new but BLANK Health Check screen and all it will say (when I try to do eg a check ) is: String was not recognised as a valid DateTime
Can’t win in this game can one!
Back to HP for a hoped fix for this one … whatever it means!
(If I get a solution I will try to paste it here for other HP users who may be having similar problems)

Many thanks to all of you for sharing your thoughts about Kaspersky … its now on my machine having dumped the preloaded Norton.
So easy to deal with Kaspersky, easy download, easy payment (for someone like me – an Aussie living in Norway also needing English software) which enabled me to pick the currency in which I wanted to pay thus avoiding ‘extra’ bank conversion charges.
I guess that the most important part is that it should work aussie !

Thanks for your replies and I already feel better!
I am much a novice and have just learned about Woody’s … great service!

    • in reply to: Vista and Wireless Router (Vista Home Premium) #1082406

I feel a bit of an idiot Dave … took my laptop on a walkabout downstairs (we live upstairs) and the excellent signal level of the other network dropped to fair/poor whilst mine stayed at excellent. So it must be someone else and the reason I get ‘excellent’ on it upstairs in our house must be because we are up the top of a hill. They must leave their network on all the time. So sorry to use your time up on a Sunday.
Thanks for this introduction to Woody’s … great way to air problems and solutions.
