My preference is to use BRAVE Browser which is based on chromium but is designed to block adverts without the need of any extension and also provides an apparently more secure environment. BRAVE works will the usual Chrome extensions. Unless you are a cryptocurrency fan and would like to receive payment for viewing occasional adverts you might like to turn off the “Brave Rewards” feature.

I’ve been using BRAVE for over a year now and love its performance, and being a cryptocurrency fan I do collect payment for seeing the odd advertisement.
