The good news is that a recent Windows update seems to have solved whatever the problem was with the network adapter. It also caused a new startup problem, but that’s for another thread on another day.

The main computer is being serviced for some recurring hardware problems (DVD drive and the water cooling system).

Thanks to all for your input. There’s a reason why this is the only forum I read on a regular basis.

That’s a great idea. Unfortunately my main computer just went into the shop so I won’t be able to check that for a few days.

Thanks for the suggestions. The Comcast gateway is a combo modem and router. It was unplugged from the wall for 10 minutes and nothing changed.

There are 3 hidden devices (all Windows entries) in the device manager for network adapters in addition to my Nvidia network card. All say the best driver is installed.

Same antivirus is on both computers.

Thank you BruceR and RolandJS for your suggestions.

I finally found the problem by checking my firewall settings. Thunderbird was on the list of programs allowed to access the internet, but when I checked closer that permission was granted to version 45.1.

Once I manually added version 45.7.1 to the firewall, everything was back to normal.

I want to be able to scan back and forth. I work with videos between 30 minutes and 4 hours long and I know approximately where I can find something I’m looking for so I can move the cursor near what I want to see. It would just be very helpful to scan backward as well as forward to re-view a particular section.

Having to play the entire clip before reversing would not be helpful because of the lengths involved.

    • What you need is a program that allows multiple sources. A friend of mine has Sony Vegas and he let me play with it for a while.

It does exactly what you want to do, mute all audio tracks except one, then edit multiple video sources until you have the best views from each video. It looks great with multiple camera views.

I think Sony Vegas 10 is the current version, but you may be able to find an older version for a fraction of the cost. I know as early as version 6 you could do what you described.

I use Faststone Viewer Portable for everything to do with images. It’s an incredibly powerful program and absolutely free.
http://www.faststone.org is the homepage for the program.

    • Thank you both for your answers.

The bottom line is I finally got there, but it took several hours. Before anything else would work, I had to apply CF to column E.

When I entered the formula for column A, it applied the style to the line below where it was supposed to be. If E11 was a 1, cell A12 had the style instead of A11. I finally figured out that’s because the first row is locked with a title for each column. When I changed the formula to $E2 instead of $E1 it worked perfectly.

I am grateful for your help specific to this spreadsheet, but more importantly you taught me a bigger lesson about how powerful CF can be, using formulas.
