You could try Options> Advanced Options.

AskWoody LoungerMay 27, 2025 at 3:57 pm in reply to: HP+ printer program blocks any non-HP, remanufactured ink cartridges #2777570Until you update printer’s firmware.
I always thought that goes without saying for anyone who plans on using 3rd party ink & toner for any printer. But, no, I have never updated the firmware. Looking at the site, the last (and only) firmware update for this printer was 2017. I’m not going to test it.

AskWoody LoungerMay 27, 2025 at 9:09 am in reply to: HP+ printer program blocks any non-HP, remanufactured ink cartridges #2777437I also got rid of my Samsung AIO laser printer after HP bought Samsung’s Printer Business.
I have a Samsung Xpress SL-C460FW Color AIO. It still works great. I rarely use it (which is what I love about laser), but it works fine with 3rd party cartridges and HP still has a section on their site dedicated to providing software and driver support. Even for Win11!

AskWoody LoungerI think “randomized” means it’s unique for each site.
Oh, I guess it could!

AskWoody LoungerI like the “randomized fingerprint”.
I definitely think that is better than a unique fingerprint, because, I would think you could only be tracked while you are online. Whereas, with a unique fingerprint, I would assume you could always be tracked. Best would be to have “protecting you against any fingerprint” – Yes.
From the FAQ
What is a digital fingerprint?
A digital fingerprint is essentially a list of characteristics that are unique to a single user, their browser, and their particular hardware setup. This includes information the browser needs to send to access websites, like the location of the website the user is requesting. But it also includes a host of seemingly insignificant data (like screen resolution and installed fonts) gathered by tracking scripts. Tracking sites can stitch all the small pieces together to form a unique picture, or “fingerprint,” of your device. -

AskWoody LoungerFirefox 115.23.1 esr does all this in standard mode
I just put Firefox in Strict mode and tested at https://coveryourtracks.eff.org/ without using the “NoScript” addon and it fails to protect against site fingerprinting.

AskWoody LoungerBanking and shopping sites that I login to, I open in Chrome.
I appreciate you mentioning that. I was having trouble with a banking site using this setup, and now I know it is not just me.

AskWoody LoungerThe NoScript settings are shown here:
As I tried to report my findings with Firefox and the “NoScript” addon, it works identical to yours. But, right off the bat, I can see this will take some fine tuning. When trying to post to this forum, the quote function would not work until I disabled “NoScripts”. And testing https://coveryourtracks.eff.org/ would not continue until I turned off my ad blocker, Adguard. Once Adguard was disabled, I got.

AskWoody LoungerI may have found the answer. The email was from Paypal and I see they started some IA Advanced Offers Platform. I will have to see about that!

AskWoody LoungerI am not making this up as you can see from my attached images…
I never said you were. I was thinking it might be different for the Home version vs. the Pro version.
EDIT: I’m not sure what the issue is. I searched and there are other people asking this question with varying answers.

Just checking my instructions and they are correct for Win11 24H2 Win Pro. Maybe different for home?

AskWoody LoungerIn 2001 I had a HDD password set in BIOS on my Dell Latitude D800.
It’s just that it is easy to take the drive out and boot it on another machine. That’s why I don’t see a BIOS PW as being very secure.
We all have our own reasons for doing the things that we do with our systems; we don’t need anyone’s approval, and we don’t all have to do the same things.
Absolutely! Just pointing some weaknesses if you are trying to protect from bad actors.
