I have a 3.5 inch external floppy drive that plugs into a USB port. I got it with some floppy discs containing embroidery software I purchased from a shop that was going out of business. (long story) I use it occasionally to run software on my embroidery machine. It was originally sold by Sabrent out of California. Last time I used it (couple years ago) it worked without any problems.

I would be willing to LOAN it to you for your project. In return I would like to know if have an old Win 3.1 disc for a program called “Windings”? It is an index program with SEVERAL additional features that I have been trying to locate. Attached is a PDF of the label of the Windings software.

We can talk later about money exchange. I don’t know your situation. I am retired with a limited income. Private message me here at Ask Woody. I am a bit fussy about posting my e-mail address or phone number on line.

      bbearren,

I have been using MS Money since I first discovered it in 1995. It is easy to learn and use. I’m currently using MS Money 2010 on my Win 7 machine. Still no problems with it.I like the ability to balance my checkbook in about 15 minutes compared to SEVERAL hours doing it by hand. Also like the ability to make entries the way I want to make them, not some locked in format the way THEY want them made.

I have tried several other checkbook programs, BUT they just didn’t work the way I wanted them to work. Most of them were DIFFICULT (to say the least) to use, and very confusing.

For as long as I’ll be around, it will be MS Money for me.

The problem is, there are a LOT of people that will do it “Because it says to do it on the Internet”.

Common sense got tossed out with the bath water !

I do not have a “Smart phone” or “Tablet”, and budget says I can not afford to buy one.

You shouldn’t need a smartphone, and it doesn’t have to be your own:

You can use any phone number to request the security code.

The phone number doesn’t need to be associated with your account.

The phone doesn’t need to be a smartphone, or connected to the internet, it just needs to be able to receive text messages.

How to unlock your Microsoft account

But THAT is the problem. Land lines can not receive text. Not only that, I have tried having the unlock code sent to a friend’s phone (it can receive text) I entered the code when prompted, and it did the same thing “Account LOCKED”.

Now, how am I supposed to get my account unlocked????

Thank you b for the tips. I have tried BOTH of those and still get the same results, ACCOUNT LOCKED ! ! ! I have no idea as to what I should do next. I do not have a “Smart phone” or “Tablet”, and budget says I can not afford to buy one.

Susan, is there a way for me to contact Microsoft by phone and talk to a real person to find out “How this happened”, and “Help me fix it” without costing an arm and a leg to get it done?

    • If this will be on CSPAN, I fully intend to watch it, OR record it to watch at a good time for me.

    • ReIcon for me, too.

Sure would be nice to have that. I would seriously consider switching to it (IF my current computer would accept it.) or maybe even buying a new computer.

Same here, Mike_Cat. Just repairing and trying to smooth things, and than another failure. Basicly it’s such a waist of time, so much to do. But in these ‘modern'(?) times one cannot do without a pc.

I probably COULD, but I CHOOSE not to.

    • Just ANOTHER REASON (There are SEVERAL) why we don’t have anything to do with ‘Smart phones’, tablets, or ‘smart devices’. We don’t TRUST them at all.

    • To me, it doesn’t matter if it was 38TB or if it was 38 bits, they need to fix the leak AND heads should roll. There is NO EXCUSE for that to happen. But knowing Redmond, NOTHING will happen.

I shudder th think how things will go when AI kicks in full force.

      cyberSAR,

I tried following you link on my computer to find where my passwords are stored in Chrome. It does not exist. I spent a bit of time getting them saved again. I’m still trying to find them in Chrome.

      Maybe I’ll find them later.

      DrRon,

I’m running version 109.0.5414.120  x64. I tried to update to the latest version of Chrome, but it said that i could not as the latest version was not compatable with Win7 x64. So I’m stuck with this version as I REFUSE to let go of my Win7 machine as long as it is working.

      Thanks for the tip.
