AskWoody MVPyou must be using a Microsoft account to sign in to Windows 10
The device will likely come encrypted on setup. See the thread Alex linked above for details.

AskWoody MVPYou can attempt to restore the backup to a spare disk / partition. Then you can wander through the files to see what is available.

AskWoody MVPI set my W11 laptop up using the standard manufacturer OOBE process. This gave me all the drivers and laptop apps so all worked without issue. Then I removed the most obviously annoying software, removed the disk encryption because I have a local account, installed my own apps (including Veracrypt) and then made an image.

AskWoody MVPThere are already several workarounds listed above. All seem to work.

AskWoody MVPA few useful posts.
I set up Win11 Pro 24H2… Used the “for Work or School” option in the setup… No hassle trying to use the Local ID.
Here’s a new one I just read about in PCWorld newsletter:
Press: Shift+F10
Type: Start ms-chx:localonly
Follow the prompts to create a local user. Setup continues normallyreg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OOBE /v BypassNRO /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f
shutdown /r /t 0
You could just type those two commands into the Command Window yourself.cheers, Paul
