Sounds like the viewer attempts to write to a location not normally allowed for regular users – possibly Program Files.
You can set the Hemera directory to allow write access for everyone?
You could try something like Picasa to view the files?

      cheers, Paul

I had a similar issue and found the best method was to rename the file after writing had completed. This only works properly if the writing application performs the rename.

Your PC should power itself off – the days of “safe to power off” messages are long gone.
Is it a very old computer?

Do you have Sony software installed? Try un-installing.
Do you have a software firewall that has decided the camera is bad?

    • in reply to: Suggestions on Linksys Router for …. #1194178

I’m assuming you are streaming from a player on the network, not via the internet.

The throughput on the router will be more than enough to stream the video, but you may have problems if you connect via wireless at less than 56Mbps – blu-ray players stream at about 40Mbps and you need room for the network overhead. I would perform some speed tests on your system before buying a new router.

McAfee have a numeric sequence to their signature updates. You should see the number in Help | About, or on the status screen, along with the latest release number.

      The current version is 5842.

Plug the camera into another computer to see if it’s the camera or computer.

You are better off performing a regular backup than defragging. Defrag adds very little value, backup has immense value.
      Defrag or No?

If the printer is connected to the XP machine and shared, you need to add the HP 64 bit drivers to the XP machine, then it will provide the drivers to the W7 machine.

Or Windows firewall on the W7 machine is blocking access?

If you are going to change programs I’d look at the free and good GIMP. It’s a bit like PS, but a lot cheaper. ;-))

      B. The router is probably changing IP address when you save, so you need to connect to the new IP address to see the new config.
ICS provides it’s own DHCP server so you need to turn off the one on the router and set an IP address in the range supplied by ICS.

Eric, does it depend on which machine boots first? I suspect some sort of machine / network conflict to explain the reversal behaviour.

      cheers, Paul
