Never ran Win95, I was on the NT3.1/3.5/3.51/4.0 workstation treadmill. Of course, I was playing with OS2 and SuSE Linux in the background.

Unraid on a Core i5-4690, 4x4TB Ironwolf (parity and 3 data), 12TB capacity.

I disable sleep and hibernation. Lock when away, and turn off the monitor at night. I have backup and maintenance jobs running in the wee hours.

Big tower PC with 27″ monitor, gets all the work done. The laptop goes on the road (tablets often substitute for the laptop).

I have a touchscreen laptop, touch was the first thing turned off.

That’s how it worked on one of my ASUS motherboards (not your model). UEFI is a prerequisite for Secure Boot.

 

My win10 test box has 16gb memory and NO pagefile, runs fine. YMMV.

I finally put new batteries in my HP-11C a couple of years ago.

On my test box, Win10Pro 20H2, KB5001330 fails to install with error 0x800ff0988; the Microsoft-suggested fix “dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup” doesn’t help.

No pause set, no metered connection, on either offending box.

Oh joy. Two of five W10Pro 1909 boxes automatically installed the July updates in spite of  W10 Pro Group Policy setting #2. GP setting is still in place, reflecting the config after 1909 install. No, I did NOT push the button. Sigh.

What’s your backup routine for the NAS?

My installs (6) of patch 4882 all retained medium compression.
