This may have something to  do with Xbox.  I’ve been getting promts about it and just clicking it away.  I deleted that app years ago.  But today when it popped up and I clicked it away I checked and saw another Microsoft Windows security auditing Code 5061 had been logged.  Two actually.  The audit failures come in pairs.

Don’t understand it but that’s what happened.

      Thank you for your reply.

My computer is 5 years old this month.  Sometimes the Windows update page says congratulations your pc is good for Windows 11.  Other times it says to check hardware requirements.  I don’t know why it changes the message.  Windows whimsy, I guess.

I am thinking it would be best to buy a new computer rather load Windows11 onto this 5-year-old computer.  But it would be easiest and cheapest to give Microsoft $30 and press on with what I have.

Also, I have an HP ENVY 5540 All-in-One Printer which is older than the computer. Probably best replace that too if I go to Windows 11.

Glad I have time to think about it.  I can afford a new computer and printer but I don’t want to go through learning new stuff.  My 78yo brain is running out of storage.

      All opinions welcome.

I don’t understand this: “If you read your email in a Web application and don’t use your computer for surfing the Web — but you can’t let go of one beloved program that still runs well on Windows 10 — the sky is not falling. You can purchase a cheap tablet to surf and read your email while you continue to use your Windows 10 device for that prized app.”

I use Office Outlook 2019 with Gmail for email and about all I do is surf the internet and store pictures and music and some documents on my Windows 10 computer.  I don’t want to change to Windows 11 because I don’t want to learn another system. I finally feel comfortable with W10 and now I have to change again.  I thought I had until the Fall of 2025.

Has that changed?  I have to change to Windows 11 now?

I wanted to get back to this sooner. I was able to order and was presented with  the usual shipping options on December 5, 2024.  The forced choice for Amazon Prime may have been a glitch on the Amazon website.  At least that was the excuse I found when a google search showed the same thing had happened a few years ago.  Don’t know what to believe, but it is fixed.  No longer forced to sign up for Amazon Prime in oder to place an order.

Just checked Speedtest.com original account. Everything is back. It even saved the the test results when it was not working or showing any results. The only results that are not there are the couple times I tested using the new account I just opened. Which makes sense it would’nt mixx the two separate accounts.
I never did email them using support@speedtest.net. I just started another account. I don’t have any idea what happened. Glad to have my results history back.
Still have no idea how to reach these people.

Thank you for your reply.  I never did find anyway to get help.  I will try to send an email too in hopes the address is still good.

BTW I opened a new account with another email address I have and the new account is working and logging results for  about 48 hours now.  But I would like to get my old account back with my result history.

I don’t understand why the people who run the website are hiding so. Their FAQ does not address what has happened to us.

I’m doing this from memory as the email is gone, but the original instructions in the 3 am email was to manually update with info for an August 8 update.  And you gave the version number for that which was different from current email instruction/version.

Now the info is for the August 1 version which is correct.

Never had an email grey out like that and don’t understand it.

      Doesn’t matter I guess.

I have KB5040525, a cumulative update preview for windows 10 v 22H2 for 64 based systems.  It is sitting in settings>optional quality updates.  I have not installed it.

      I did install KB5040527 cumulative update for Windows 10 v 22H2 for 64 based system on July 31, 2024.

I am one who cannot update Office 2019.  My last update install was Version 2406 (Build 17726.20126) released on June 26, 2024.

I had updates turned off in Office 2019 since then and did not try to update until today when I got this box notice:

      Screenshot-2024-08-08-074212

My network is fine.  I’m just going to wait and see if Microsoft fixes this at their end.

Last update for retail versions Office 2019 was August 1, 2024 – Version 2407 (Build 17830.20138) I read the release notes and I don’t think anything really applies to my use.

I will update this post if I am able to update Office 2019 later.

BTW I received AskWoody Plus – 21.32.1 – 2024-08-08 at 3:00am today.  It was different than what is posted here and now the email is grey out/blank.  The info about the Office 2019 update version was wrong for consumers.  Did you some how pull it back?

    • I have a Verizon 5G Home Internet Gateway ARC-XCI55AX which Verizon refers to as a “receiver”.  They come from the factory set to give “dynamic ip addresses” by default.  Sometime in the future the default may change to giving static ip’s. But for the forseeable future when ever I go on line I will be located where my current IP address is located.

BTW my device now thinks it is in Ashburn, VA.  Technician I chatted with also suggested dynamic IP may be a feature rather than a bug as did Ascaris here.

There is nothing I can do at my end.  If someone here has a Verizon 5G Home Internet Gateway ARC-XCI55AX and they were able to overcome the location assigned by the dynamic ip assignment please post what you did.  The tech at Verizon could not do anything other than create a record of my contact with them.

    • Searches still go to location of Verizon router IP, which in my case is Verizon business in New Orleans.

    • Myst,

Thank you.  I think you nailed it and probably nothing can be done.  I knew the IP was Verizon business in New Orleans.  It’s a shame as the service is very good but the dynamic IP is terrible and I am stuck with the situation.

      Thank you for your trouble.

I was asleep at the switch and left the door open.  Happily March updates loaded without a problem.  Just wanted to say I did not get KB5035849.  I got KB5035845.
