AskWoody PlusThanks to both of you for the help. Paul T. Great simple idea.

AskWoody PlusA lot of that garbage at the top of a search results is AI based. I’ve been able (using Firefox) to use switches that sometimes work. For example:
computer help website -AI
computer help website +edu
gives only search information that is from an .edu domain
Also make sure your settings in Firefox match your privacy expectations.

AskWoody PlusFebruary 19, 2025 at 11:34 pm in reply to: Selecting Windows 11 Pro during a clean installation (USB Stick) #2749769I do appreciate the links, but here’s certainly no consensus. I had searched for the same and got the same….and many solutions that didn’t work. I was hoping someone here had recently done a clean install using Win11 23h2 (recommended version).

Mike
AskWoody PlusThanks everyone for the information. I should be able to turn off secure boot in the bios. This will be a clean install since there’s no other programs on this computer.

AskWoody PlusVery interesting indeed, much appreciated. But, it seems to me that you’re likely sending just as much (if not more) telemetry to Samsung. It’s amazing what runs in the background and at startup. I too have a Samsung tablet and the “provided” bloatware is what I despise. Plus, it slows down the tablet. The only solution in my opinion, is to completely go to a custom version/OS (Unlock>Custom ROM), and that seems daunting and poorly documented.

AskWoody PlusAugust 20, 2024 at 12:15 am in reply to: Windows File Explorer Info when hovering mouse missing? #2697882- Nope Alex, that doesn’t work for me. The options are enabled and I tried disabling and then re-enabling. Do you have it installed? Can you verify that it does or does not show additional media information (i.e. resolution, frame rate, data rate) when you hover over the file name.

AskWoody PlusAugust 18, 2024 at 7:05 pm in reply to: Windows File Explorer Info when hovering mouse missing? #2697567OK. That’s a good idea.
I updated to the latest installer based version of MediaInfo 24.06 and that’s when I lost the information on hovering. Prior to that, it was all there (no registry editing or reg file). So, now I’m thinking that the version update did it. Not sure though. I was looking through the MediaInfo settings and hoping for the option, but no such luck.

AskWoody PlusThis works for me. I’m using a 3 year old laptop with USB-C and Thunderbolt inputs. With this external device kit, I can use my 1394 Nikon Scanner and Sony Camcorders.

AskWoody PlusMay 9, 2024 at 8:30 pm in reply to: Two same formatted 32GB USB thumb drives: One works the other doesn’t. Why? #2669920For some reason, after deleting the Volume, I never had the option to convert using either block (left or right).
So instead, I used command.com and diskpart using the covert mbr command. That worked.
Question now: Is there a standard for a removable USB thumb drive? Why MBR for just MP3 data playback? And why would one of these wind up GPT?
Baffled for sure. Thanks so much and I hope this process helps someone else.

Would you explain why you choose the Ottocast over the AA wireless? Just curious.

That’s not the idea of using Android Auto. It basically mirrors your phone device screen and more on your car screen. Much more integrated
