I installed it when first released. I’ve had no problems.

    • Banking sites are the big culprits. Most of mine will not run on Fx. But this is OFF TOPIC. They load on Basilisk that is forked off Fx 52.9 ESR but, of course, it not a good idea to do banking on Basilisk since it has not been supported for months now. I use fx portable also BTW.

I still want to know if it is possible to get all tabs that open on Edge to load FULLY when Edge is started. My banking sites load fine on Edge and that is a main reason I use Edge some. (Even iOS on my iPhone won’t properly load some banking sites or their apps…this is on the current iOS version…guess this time I should have waited a while before installing it as my phone won’t even load Target’s own wifi INSIDE Target store now. In fact, iPhone doesn’t work even on cellular inside Target now….other iPhone users reporting the same problem here and also unable to use Apple Pay in Safeway now on Apple watch or iPhone and others complaining to Safeway about that too. I have to do it the old fashioned way and physically insert my credit card into the Safeway terminal and I can’t even do that in Target now. (I guess I won’t be so eager to get the latest iPhone/Watch updates in the future).

As for Fx ESR, I already had it set to FALSE for the preference “browser.sessionstore.restore_on_demand”. But just now I see a preference I have not noticed in the past “browser.sessionstore.restore_tabs_lazily”. It was set to the default of TRUE. I just set it to FALSE but haven’t tested yet to see if that fixes the problem.

As for Edge, the needed flags are not found…it’s late so I’ll look at it further tomorrow.

I solved this by using WUMGR.

And I found the opposite. I finally decided to try WUMGR after seeing it recommended here for so long. I wasn’t having any problems until I tried it on Windows 10 Pro. It suddenly took forever to update…it was awful.

So, I think one needs to do what works for them.

AVOID for now. I haven’t had many problems on my iPhone XR or Apple Watch Series 5 with doing Apple updates as soon as available. BUT this update is VERY BUGGY.

The watch keeps telling me it has UNLOCKED the phone which is absurd because the phone is in my hand and unlocked when the watch says this. (Plus, I usually use the phone to unlock the watch not the watch unlocking a phone as I don’t wear the watch all the time at home).

The watch also gives me a too high noise alert when the noise is small and for only a second or two.

The watch frequently says I have fallen when I haven’t and hadn’t stumbled or anything. Plus, it doesn’t wait long enough before it starts calling 911!

Maybe I need to re pair them or something. It appears the watch is now overly sensitive. This happens at home. I will be curious to see if the problems continue when I leave the house for the first time after the updates.

NOT for the faint hearted! Windows updates would not offer it.

Chasing your tail if WUfB GP settings aren’t reset/ changed before seeking.:)

Not sure what you mean. I use the excellent Winaero Tweaker for many years to control WU. I lift the stopping of WU by Tweaker each morning in order to get the latest Defender definitions. WU immediately offers me whatever updates are available after I uncheck the box in Tweaker to stop WU. I didn’t go “seekng”. I just allow WU to download updates each morning primarily so I can update Defender but I also get any other updates that are available then.

Ahh…Do you mean did I change GP target to 22H2? I did that several days ago but I got tired of waiting for WU to do its thing and I don’t want to leave WU open for long. So, I went seeking since it could be a long time before Microsoft offers it if they are offering on a staggered basis….I wish they would not do that but I suppose it is to keep MS servers from crashing.

    • Microsoft has just posted that Windows 10 22H2 is now out for “seekers” who manually “check for updates”

I say BEWARE of this. I wanted to get it done early because I am going to be really busy for awhile.

NOT for the faint hearted! Windows updates would not offer it. Finally, I used Update Assistant to get it. I don’t recommend anyone doing this way although Microsoft suggested I do it this way.

It downloaded like I was on dialup (and remember this was ONLY the update from 21H2) but I have 200 mbps down (Spectrum cable) so it should have downloaded almost instantly. Once it did it proceeded to scare the heck out of me. This computer will be 5 years old in December but it has been exceptionally NON problematic for many months until I, stupidly, got this update.

It messed with something as simple as colors and Restore Point Creator got all restore points (12) wiped out! Yes, Restore Point Creator has not been supported for a long time but it has worked perfectly during the almost five years I’ve had Windows 10 and it works great on my older Windows 8 computer. I have no idea why this update for Windows would wipe out all restore points! That should not have happened.

I have 102.4.0 ESR Firefox but it got upset by this update. Plus, now with only Fx open, 51% memory is being used. That is ridiculous and disgusting as this is a Dell XPS desktop with 16GB RAM. it should be using about ONE HALF the RAM it is using.

22H2 really has messed with my Windows 10 Pro settings! I keep finding stuff all messed up now. It even REVERTED the right side scroll bar in Edge to default which is so narrow on my 24 inch wide screen monitor that I can’t even see it now! Sure enough, when I checked the Registry settings they had been put back to default! It messed even worse with CURRENT FIREFOX vertical scroll bars on the right and the left side where I have vertical tabs. I have fixed this but haven’t rebooted to see if it takes effect. Plus, it got rid of my nice green scroll bar color and messed with my SAVED Windows themes!

Is Microsoft doing a staged offering? Windows Updates says I am up to date (after installing a latest Defender version – after I got a new Defender version a few hours ago but a newer one since that one).

I’m not being offered Windows 10 Pro Version 22H2. I know I can go fetch it from Microsoft Catalog. But why am I not being offered it when I turn off Winaero Tweaker where I had Windows Updates disabled? I rebooted twice and still not offered it. I also used gpedit to change the target version to 22H2 and rebooted and still not offered it.

Edit: I don’t see it on Windows Catalog.

Sigh. I did NOT write “nonsense” but if you want to insist on how superior you are to the rest of us at this site go ahead…just don’t expect me to pay much attention to YOUR”nonsense”.

I don’t even think you understood (or maybe even read fully) my post. I’l say it again…iTunes on a windows PC is c**p.

    • in reply to: The magic of an iPhone migration #2488964

If you backup with password your iPhone to your PC , you can restore to new iPhone including passwords, health data…(but not Apple Pay/card).

For Windows users it is HORRIBLE to try and backup iPhone on a Windows computer. There are too many shortcomings if you use iTunes. You have to PURCHASE a third party app to do a decent backup onto a Windows computer. This is the ONE THING that makes me very angry with Apple (and Microsoft too).

I can’t stand iTunes and with its shortcomings for backup well….it is NOT an option. I’ve looked at many third party backup programs for iPhone and tried a few and disliked all of them. Besides NONE are free and I can’t see why I should be expected to buy an app to do something that the two parties involved should get together and offer free to their users…something BETTER than iTunes (they should both be very ashamed of the current state of affairs).

So, I just back up iPhone to iCloud and also download all photos from the iPhone to my computer. As for not restoring Apple Pay (not Apple credit card that Apple keeps pushing at me) are you referring to Apple Wallet that would not restore from a PC? That would be a big hassle!

SOME DAY, I keep hoping, that Microsoft and Apple will decide to work together for the benefit of those of us who like BOTH and have Windows computers and Apple iPhones and watches.

      Watch iOS 9.0.2 is available.

Wish I had known sooner. It told me when I put it on a few minutes ago in preparation for going grocery shopping where I use it to make purchases. Update will have to wait til I get back (as will my iPhone update).

      Try this:

      https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/textarea-cache/

I’ve used this extension for years and been quite satisfied with it.

    • I don’t think that’s true. Store updates are entirely separate from Windows Update.

That’s correct. I have no problems getting Store updates but as of yesterday, seemingly out of nowhere, I suddenly cannot get Windows Updates for Windows 10 except I still can get daily updates for Defender. It is just Quality Updates (October ones) that Windows Updates doesn’t see as needed. Suddenly, Belarc Advisor also does not see the October updates and says I am up to date when I run it. Ugh.

Edit: Advisor shows the October updates today (I jumped the gun with it this month and didn’t wait long enough for them to get them out. I was anxious this month to get the October updates quickly since Microsoft is releasing an update for Windows 10 later this month and I wanted the “ordinary” updates done before then). Windows Updates though is not offering them still but I can get them from Microsoft catalog updates now I know which ones I need.

    • in reply to: PC’s are not selling #2487222

Maybe the problem is as simple as not being able to use the browser of choice (like Fx 102.3.0 ESR) at that link. If I can’t use Fx without problems then I too don’t want a new computer and I was planning on getting a new one soon.

I have’t priced a Dell XPS Desktop or tried configuring one but if the price is too high (and the higher end XPS desktop is not cheap to begin with) and it lacks configuration that I am used to with the XPS then I would not get a new machine either. However, I can in no way see using my iPhone XR as a substitute. I almost NEVER access the internet on the iPhone…too small a screen. I have a 24 inch Dell Ultrasharp widescreen monitor for the computer and hate the tiny iPhone screen. I have never used a tablet though so maybe I would find that a likeable surprise but I doubt it.

For me though, I think 22 years of personal computers is getting boring. One with virtual reality? That would get me excited!

    • in reply to: Device security > Memory integrity #2486150

I had to turn off memory Integrity some time ago on my Dell XPS 8930 desktop running Windows 10 Pro (will be 5 years old in December). I was suddenly getting alerts. Main culprit was my Western Digital Passport that backs up the computer. Western Digital was clueless. There were a lot of irritated folks like me (mostly Dell XPS desktop users) when I searched for the issue. My Passport works fine for backing up but WD never updates the drivers. They are OFF my list of vendors to purchase from when I get a new computer.
