I’m assuming by your broadcast designations that you are in the UK (or Europe somewhere).  It’s a little more complicated here in the States.  As long as you are in a metropolitan area (or close to one) you are generally good to go.  Unfortunately if I go to the middle of our State (Colorado), I lose any hope of broadcast TV.  With the advent of Digital Broadcast, all the frequencies require line-of-sight to receive any sort of broadcast.  Once in the middle of the State, there might as well be a Dante-esque sign that says “Abandon hope all ye who enter here”.  There is no chance of line-of-sight broadcast.  The only thing available is satellite (Dish, Excede, Hughes, etc.) or if you’re lucky enough broadband via microwave.  If you have the broadband, then you still have the possibility of a modem reboot that Susan mentioned.  With the addition of all the new streaming services, the price just keeps going up.  We’re looking at paring down ours, but once you drop two levels from the current service, you generally lose channels that you want and adding them back via streaming brings the cost right back up.  There’s just no winning this game, because they’ve rigged the game.

Don’t they have Back-Bacon and “Canadian” Beer for Thanksgiving up North?

Sorry, couldn’t resist the Bob and Doug McKenzie reference.

In all seriousness, Happy Thanksgiving to our friends up North!

Woody, so if iPhone X should be pronounced iPhone Ten, shouldn’t iPhone 7 have been designated “iPhone VII”?

Actually, using team names or any other name (within reason) won’t get you into legal trouble.

    • Woody, I went to the Windows Support page that you had linked and it says:

      Update replacement information

This update replaces the previously released update KB4489491.

Interestingly when I went to the MS Update Catalog the Package Details state:

This update replaces the following updates:

      n/a
      So…Microsoft…which is it?

You two are giving me ideas as to what to do with my old Dell laptop.  I’m pretty sure it could run Win 10…but why?  I’ve got a newer Asus with Win 10 v1709 and it runs just fine.

I’ve been wanting to give Linux a try, so maybe this is the opportunity to do so.

Woody, I can honestly say that being on v1709 Pro, I have yet to see any upgrade offers or forces.  I’m using all the blocks that you and several others have put forth.  Basically, I don’t go seeking, I have the metered connection set, I have defer set and I also set some of the blocks to stop the updates in Local Policy and in the Registry as well.
I have yet to see any upgrades to 1803, 1809, or 1903.  Again, I don’t go “seeking” for them either.

      CyGuy,

Like you I am on Pro.  I am also still on v1709 (for reasons due to what we use at work).  I have not had one upgrade sent my way.  I don’t go looking for updates (seeking).  I also got aggressive early on with my shutting down MS having access to my PC.  I turned my connection to metered.  I also shut things down in Local Policy and in the Registry as to Microsoft’s ability to try to force me into anything.  As far as update patches, I always watch Woody’s for any potential bad patches and I also only apply patches that we use at work.  I couple this with running MBSA (Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer) and check for missing patches.

PaulK, it used to only have “Reply” and “Report” at the top (as best to my recollection), and that drop down box at the top for “Resolution”, I don’t remember seeing that before either.  I would say until Woody and crew get this sorted out “don’t touch that dial!”.

Two very good references to keep in mind are:
      https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/13853/windows-lifecycle-fact-sheet

      and

      https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/

Until, as Woody so appropriately stated…”Until MS changes its mind again, anyway.”
Or even more aptly, as Darth Vader said  “I am altering the deal.  Pray I don’t alter it any further.”
