Yes, I forgot to log in, so it showed up as anonymous.

      Sorry for the confusion.

      Thank you, Moonshine.

When I was trying to resolve this problem in the other thread, someone suggested that I try it in private/incognito mode. I found that the pages loaded in incognito mode in both Chrome and Edge, but not Firefox. I didn’t realize at the time that safe mode is incorporated into incognito mode in Chrome (but not Firefox).

Starting Firefox in safe mode also resulted in the pages loading.

At some time in the past I thought that I had disabled all my extensions and it didn’t make a difference. Apparently I missed something, because this time, after starting the browsers in normal mode, I was able to determine which extension was at fault. With that extension disabled, the problem pages load fine.

So your posting the link saved me having to deal with Windows safe mode, as well as solving my problem!

The problem is solved. See https://www.askwoody.com/forums/topic/safe-mode-6/#post-2359595 .

Thanks for your help, everyone, especially EyesOnWindows for suggesting trying private mode. That eventually led to the solution.

      This one, Paul.

      https://www.askwoody.com/forums/topic/help-my-web-pages-disappear/

It’s been driving me crazy for several months.

Just reading through the comments again, I just realized there are still a couple of suggestions in that thread that I haven’t followed up on….

Thanks. That occurred to me a little while ago, also. Thanks for the reinforcement. I’ll give it a try.

Okay, I thought that might be the case.

      Thanks!

Sorry for the anonymous responses. I didn’t realize I was logged out. Hopefully I will be identified appropriately now.

The behavior has changed today. Whether or not my AV is enabled or disabled, and even allowing all cookies, this is is what I get:

      500 Internal Service Error

      openresty/1.19.3.1

These two lines are repeated six times on the page.

      🙁

      Thanks for the help, Paul.

In True Image 2020, I don’t see anything that says recovery. I have Rescue Media Builder and Acronis Universal Restore.

I assume Acronis Media Builder in the documentation is the same as Rescue Media Builder. Is this what I should use?

Do you recommend a USB drive over a DVD?

I saw an Acronis mention somewhere yesterday of being able to boot directly from my backup drive. Is that a possibility?

      Thanks,

      Warren

Sorry to sound like such an idiot; I’m feeling stressed trying to get this done. I used to have a lot better understanding of this, but I’ve been out of the field for too long.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn’t clear — sorry. I do have the OS and data on separate partitions. However, all the programs are on the OS partition and some of them store their data on that partition.

My important data is fine. I mostly just need to get my programs back, with their setting and data that they have stored on the OS partition.

Thanks, but this doesn’t work, unfortunately.

      Hi satrow,

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I cannot click on any buttons outside of the big warning window. In fact, nothing on the site is even visible.

      Hi Kirsty,

The sites are reputable news sites. These aren’t paywalls per se, but they’re related. The one I want most to access is the Salt Lake Tribune at sltrib.com. If you don’t pay for a subscription, they want you to see their ads to help pay for your access.

This is reasonable, and I’m happy to display the ads at a site like this, if I could just get it to work. 🙁
