try using Control Panel | Programs | Default Programs | Set your default programs.

      Thank you Joe.

    • Thank you Joe, much appreciated.

    • Thank you Rick. So are you saying that the login I have is at the highest level without carrying out an arcane process to achieve even higher levels? Why would I need even higher levels? Especially as I would be at a loss as to how to achieve such ‘magic’

    • Thank you Rick, No I was not aware that it is not in complete control of my PC. I sent the same graphic to support from RoboForm and the reply was ‘it was fine to install from that account’ Roboform appears to be working well but I would like to be able to login having COMPLETE control over my PC. Where can I find simple instructions to achieve this?

    • 45555-Administrative-Account I found that I already was logging in to an administrator account so problem solved. Thank you all.

Thank you CLiNT, In desperation I loaded Windows again and then restored from a True Image file and all is well. Cannot understand what would remove the C: drive from the boot section of the BIOS?

Norton Security Premium cost me AU$55 from a local store, I just received a card with downloading and installation steps provided. The De Luxe version was not on offer, I don’t need more than one licence, my wife’s laptop has nothing on it of value so I use Windows Defender for that. Whereabouts in the UK are you? I emigrated from Brighton 34 years ago, love it here.

Thank you Sudo, that is exactly what I did and all is fine now. I do wonder if it will happen again and will Norton be so obliging the next time?

    • in reply to: Windows Update problem #1550413

I have subsequently made an image of my C: drive then deleted Norton Security Premium and rebooted. Windows Defender defaulted to being the security programme for the PC, I did a Windows update and it updated perfectly so I thought I would just install Norton Security Premium and that particular update problem would go away. Not so, when I entered the Norton Security Premium install key it told me no more installs. So I had to restore the image I made with the update problem still nagging me. Is it possible to uninstall Windows Defender or remove it from the update list?

Thank you Sudo but didn’t work.

Thank you both for your replies. How do I delete the USB ports in the PC? What exactly should I delete in Device Manager? Peter

Luckily, it is not crashing for me. I have solved my original problem by not setting Directory Opus to default opening of all files. Funny, but I still prefer Powerdesk for two reasons, Size Manager and easy encryption.

I’m afraid there is no option to do that the way that article suggests. Thank you anyway.

Thank you for your reply. I didn’t have a folder Recycle Bin so rather than trouble you further I restored an earlier image and it id now back again.

The disc is not visible in File Explorer. As I have now restored a previous image I cannot try “dir d:”.
