I do not have any experience with the laptop mentioned, but on my desktop setting that control wake-up have to be set in the bios. Check the power state of USB ports during sleep and a setting similar to “wake up on USB”

Automatic replies to incoming messages are normally not handled by mail-clients, they are handled by the mail-provider. That’s because the servers are running 24/7.

So my advise is open the mail-providers web-interface and start looking in the settings there.
This has to be done for every mail-account you want to change.

To my knowledge you just have to create an account with the same username as your AskWoody username on WordPress.com and fix the profile, adding a nice picture and your email-address. Nothing else matters and there is nothing to pay.
