Aha, didn’t understand that from Patch Lady’s ‘To patch or not to patch’ post and comments.
No hard feelings though, didn’t feel like uninstalling security updates anyway and went to give KB4100480 a try: all’s fine on my Group B stand-alone work & play pc.

They might be right. No product keys, only licenses. For Office 365 Click-to-run at least.

Another thing, Susan: I get the impression that you feel a bit guilty maybe?
I don’t blame you at all. I could have known, or at least be more cautious when middling with ms’ incomprehensable systematics. Even a full system restore couldn’t undo it.

Are you using the same Office version now as you were a few days ago?

      Yes, same one.

Outlook 2016 prompting for login credentials when opening any email attachments. The last post in that thread seems to describe your issue.

Thanks, but no it’s not. In my case it asks to login every time I start Outlook.

I spoke with MS on the phone a few days back, and they said they could see my Office is not recognized as being legit to be updated through a different channel. (Bc of the third party ‘token’ that was used when purchasing and installing Office.)
That still doesn’t explain the annoying login since I reverted, but hey: it’s MS.

Like I said: I love it and I hate it.

P.S. If Windows Credentials Manager makes credentials (which it not always does), those are persistent only “for the session”, not for “Enterprise”. Hence the needed logins.

Well Susan, it’s not so much an error but an annoyance. Outlook keeps asking to login in order to synchronize my Exchange mail.
Before this all happened, I was automatically logged in with my Exchange profile.

Thanks, I know. Askwoody.com is one of the few that I keep cookies from.
Cache was emptied already many times, but somehow Woody’s data was persistent. (?)

      Anyways, cleaned and solved.

To answer to my own remark:

When I open askwoody.com in a private tab, they DO show up! So I have to clean up my browser’s cookies and cache.

      Problem solved (?)

Thanks PKCano, I’m aware of that but I still don’t understand why Woody calls KB 4034664 a kind of SP2 roll up. That gave me the impression that it’s important.

I’m in the Win7/x64 Group B and normally only install ‘pure’ security updates, so is this KB 4034664 update/sp2 recommendable?
Woody doesn’t seem to tone it down, although in the overview in 2000003 I see its security-only alternative KB 4034679 (and 4034733).

So what’s up? Should I install KB 4034664 or not?
