This has been resolved. It turns out it was Norton Smart Firewall. Once it was turned disabled, the browsers worked normally. I thought the firewall only protected from incoming connections, but it looks like I was wrong. I also am using Norton Smart Firewall on my computer without a problem, so there could be a problem with it.
