      Bing uses OpenAI’s GPT-4, not GPT-3.5.

One small nitpick is that even though the computer was from 2001, it was already quite old tech already from 1995. So really the table is comparing 1995 technology to 2022 technology, so 27 years of progress. It does help date when the industrial control system was designed, as this model was designed about 6 years previous to being sold. DOS was still in use even in 2005 for theater lighting control systems, so I have seen this kind of thing myself with brand new control systems sold even later. Great article, and I learned something about floppy recovery.

Beware that the January updates can break ReFS formatted mirrored Storage Spaces on external USB3 drives on Windows 10 21H2 64 bit. The Storage Space will show as unformatted, and Windows will ask if you want to format it(!). The only solution is to roll back the update, and the drive will work normally again.

My wife’s computer was set to metered and she was not happy that she was forced to take a break from her work she was trying to do when it restarted itself to install 1803.

Windows 10 S is to compete with Chromebooks and Chromeboxes.  That is it.  Microsoft is losing greatly in schools where hundreds of Chromebooks are being purchased and fewer and fewer Windows computers.  Windows requires far more maintenance.  Do you know how long it takes to run Windows updates on an entire cart of 30 Windows laptops every month?  All the Chromebooks needs to update are a restart which takes seconds.  The laptops need 15 -30 minutes each.  I won’t even mention how long it takes to install the Windows 10 version semiannually per laptop.  Microsoft is just making Chromebook clone for schools, complete with identical management license pricing.  Personally, I think Microsoft is years late here and would only have a chance with late school district adopters.  I don’t see districts with deep investments in Chrome devices changing now.
