I spent 90 minutes on the phone with Western Digital with no success yesterday.  They said that they will be updating the drivers soon, but who knows?   I’m tempted to run my WD backup drive with Acronis, and not worry about the memory integrity error, or I could just eliminate my WD backup for now and rely on my Carbonite.  What would be best?

As a relative newbie on a new home Dell 8940, running Windows 11, I just received a yellow warning in Windows Security about Memory Integrity for incompatible drivers from my WD 2TB Passport External Hard drive purchased in 2020, which supports Acronis.  The drivers are wdcsam64_prewin8.sys, wdcsam64.sys, and tib.sys Acronis TOB Explorer.  I tried to uninstall my WD SES device in Device Manager, as some website suggested, but it reappeared after I rebooted and the warning is still there.  Any suggestions?

As a home user newbie, I am wondering whether I should restart my computer for the cumulative update for .net framework (KB5004331) when prompted to do so, or wait until the regular cumulative update is also finished installing (KB5005033) and restart after both are installed?  The second cumulative update other than .net is taking so long and I’m wondering if it needs the restart of the framework in order to complete its work.   Thank you.

On my Dell PC with 20H2, I have Malwarebytes and Windows Defender.  For updating, In Malwarebytes, I can turn off web protection, malware protection, exploit protection, and ransom protection.  Any suggestions on disabling?  Is the computer then vulnerable during the update process?  Thanks in advance.

    • On my home PC, my Windows Security App & Browser control has a yellow triangle, as I don’t use it, and I would like to get rid of the triangle.  Should I turn it on, or hit Dismiss and download something it then suggests?  I also use Malwarebytes premium.  I should note that I don’t use Microsoft One Drive and don’t sign into my Microsoft account, because I didn’t want to be connected to some cloud and be connected to my work computer.  Thank you.

    • Thanks, I regularly use Dell Updates but was just wondering if there were apps that checked for other than Dell drivers on the computer and facilitated downloading.

    • Is there a recommended computer vendors update app for updating drivers?  What is the easiest way to do this?  Thanks!

      What about 19042.789 ?

I have 1909 on my relatively new Lenovo laptop, and just started the update procedure after pausing it.  It is installing the 1909 update, without any hint of 2004.  So, it doesn’t appear that Microsoft is automatically forcing 2004 here.

I updated for December after  receiving this post, and all went well.  I was wondering whether it is safe to delay beginning my 35 day pause delay until the day before the next Patch Tuesday in January?  That way, I won’t reach the limit a week before the February Patch Tuesday, and possibly before Defcon-4 kicks in.

I did the November patches in December when their Defcon was changed from 2 to 4, and set my December delay for 25 days. That time is about to run out on January 1rst. Any hints as to whether the December patches will be ready by then, and Defcon pushed up to 4 again?

    • in reply to: Where we stand with the August patches #2293298

Thank you.  If I succeed in going beyond the 35 day pause window, by resetting, is there any danger of pausing the August patches past the new September patch Tuesday updates?

    • in reply to: Where we stand with the August patches #2293290

The problem is that I can’t pause beyond September 5, as it was the maximum 35 day period I believe; so I assume the updates will then occur automatically, and whatever happens, happens?

As a newbie with a Dell PC, following the August update, I paused the update 7 days option several times, as Woody recommended, until Saturday, September 5.  What is recommended at this point?  I have installed update 1909 and the cumulative update KB4565483.
