Surfing Pensioner,  Thank you for the information.  I did the 1909 updates and now I am being offered if I want (It’s not an update), but I can click download and install 20H2.

I will look into this more deeply.  What you write makes it sound easy and see what I can do.  I will do it a little later.

      I will let you know.

The Windows Update Blocker and Windows Update Mini Tool are not doing anything visibly to block any updates.

Under Audio inputs. and outputs I have for Microphone and Speaker/HP (Realtek High Definition Audio).  It’s the same Realtek device under Sound, Video and Game controllers.  Thus, no Conexant anything, not even under System Devices, etc.

My system is a windows 10 Ver. 1909 64 bit with an Intel Core i3-5020u CPU @ 2.20 GHz 2019 GHz

The only thing I have added to it other than the two tools mentioned above is the Classic Shell Start Menu

After installing all updates, I checked with the Windows Update and checked my system.

It is not offering me 2004, nor does it show up as an update.

However it is offering me, if I click download and install, 20H2.

Because my system seems to be skipping over Ver 2002, should I just wait until AskWoody says to go to 20H2?

      Thank you!

Thank you for the answers PKCano and the Surfing Pensioner.

As far as I know I am not using the MS Mini tool.  I downloaded it ages ago, and never used it.

I do use the WUMT (Windows Update Mini Tool), in conjunction with the Windows Update Blocker v. 1.1.

As far as I know I have never done anything to block or hide the feature update, nor have ever paused updates.

In all honesty I don’t know what power shell command Windows Power Shell Commands in the AKB2000016  are.  Before I switched to MacBook at the end of  2016 after being disgusted with MS Win 10, I really lost interest in trying to teach myself about Windows.  I just followed the simplest directions here on what to install and when it was safe, and I used the spreadsheets Susan said nobody liked.  I will install the updates you mentioned except KB4023057 and keep KB4023057 hidden.

Does the following sound wise? Should I then do an update search through the actual Windows Update and not just use the UWMT?

Surfer Pensioner, I just don’t trust myself getting into the registry.  It would be to me, like a stranger messing around with the mass spectrometer or X-Ray Fluorescence machine I used to use.

Thank you for your help ahead of time.

I have a windows 10 Home and finally in January was offered version 1909.  I am not being offered 2004 or 20H2.  As a simple user who doesn’t trust herself changing a registry for TRV.  I don’t have a robust machine.  I mainly use my MacBook and am just keeping Windows 10 uptodate for a need for the near future.

I am being offered besides the MSRT:

      4535680 Security update win 10 1909 for x64 based systems….

      4598301 2021-01 Cum. update preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 …

      4023057 2020-10 Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64 …

      4598229 2021-01 Cum. Update for Windows 10 ver 1909 for x64 based…

I have had difficulty getting the mini tool to work for version updates.

I assume I should just install MSRT and the last update listed the 4598229 the cumulative update for Windows 10 ver 1909.  Is that correct?

I do not know how to get MS to push me a more recent update if today’s search for updates didn’t produce it.

      Thanks again!

Dear PKCano,  I have been trying to find to work on this Win 10 Ver 1903 64 bit computer, and didn’t check the Master Check List by S. Bradley until today.

-I have two updates I do not see on the Master Check list.  One, appears to be for CPU code or something.  it is dated 2/25/20–KB4997165

-The other is a cumulative NET update that came out 2/27/20–KB4537572.

-I think perhaps I should download the cumulative security update KB4632693 from the catalog.  I have Intel NOT AMD. so I should be okay?

What should I do with these unlisted updates–I assume the master list has not been updated?

      Thank you very much!

    • in reply to: MS-DEFCON 3: Get the February patches installed #2174912

Thank you!  I will only do the essential updates and skip kb4532693.

Because no optional updates are ever listed, should the .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 – kb4537572 be installed when I make my choices to update?

      Thank you!

      Dear PK Cano,

I figured out how to un-pause or resume updates, so ignore my first reply to you.

I still have  the “optional update” question.

Based on the fact that the MS bug is still in 1903 cumulative update, should I update to 1909?  The MS bug is hitting HP computers more that any other according to Woody’s post and that’s what I have.

      Thank you very much!

      Dear PK Cano,

      Yes, things are paused.

How do I stop the pause the pause or remove it for now?  I tried pausing for the first time last month.  I assumed you can switch the amount of time at some point.  I don’t see how to do that now.

Is there a way to get rid of the pause for now?

What about my question on optional updates?

      Thank you!

      Dear Woody, or MVPs,

      I have two problems.

      1. The first is probably easy to explain.  I have Windows 10 Home as my other computer (Mac book for main).  I have a HP Pavillion 64 bit. If you need more information just ask.  I never get optional updates as labeled by Woody in his Woody on Windows.  Does anyone know why?

I don’t install all of the ones I get, but I have to choose.  Usually I do any Adobe, MSRT and cumulative updates.  Sometimes other updates seem necessary.

      2.  After I updated 1903 for January updates in February, I did disk images after that, system restore points, and searched to hide updates.  There were updates avaiable, and I hid them.

I went to install the hidden updates, and searched for more first, and there are no updates hidden or available for me to install except some HP HID thing.  I did that again today–still no updates for February to install now.  Nothing has been installed since I installed the January updates.

What updates do I need for February Windows 10 1903 64 bit?  I can then get them from the MS catalog.

      Thank you very much!

I really can spell!  It’s two methods, not too!  Edit:  I realized you can correct your posts and did so, but you can’t delete redundant ones like this one now that I edited above.

Thank you Pk Cano.  I am using the two methods you said were my only option, and because I did the switch to a MacBook after 6 months of Windows 10 having been fed up with MS, I started to use the WUMT combined with Windows. Update Blocker.  I know Woody does not recommend the WUMT, but the Win 10 machine is a necessary evil these days.  Most months I only use the machine for updates.  I know there are and will be times I need to use it for a client, but I just want to keep it running.  I guess I will go to 1903 when I have to do so.

      Thanks for your time!

I hope I did not miss this advice.

      1.  I have Windows 10 Home version 1803.  How do you set the deferral date, or number of days to search, i.e.,>32 days if Home does not provide that possibility?

I’d like to avoid 1903 as long as possible.

      2.  I have another question regarding advice given.  Woody often says don’t install anything if it is not checked as necessary.  I have not seen checked and unchecked updates since my Win 7 died.  They have never come to Win 10 that way.  Other than reading Ask Woody, how do we figure out updates to download?  I download the cumulative updates, the MSRT, and the Adobe Flash updates always, and nothing else any more.

    • This is good news.  I must have read incorrectly in the end of April that there was something else being pushed that came out later than 1809, and it would try to download on my Win 10 home when I searched for updates.  I must be confused.  Hopefully if I do a check for updates I won’t get anything other than 1809.  Am I wrong about the order of the updates as to what Home will get.  We can’t put things off. unless we hide them.

      Many thanks!

    • Okay, but I got the dates mixed up.  Woody had stated that an all new version was being pushed out–not the last fall version or not 1809.  Can I just wait and go from 1803 to the newest release when Woody says it is safe to move there, and just skip 1809?

I know this all seems obvious stuff to you, and so many others here, but I am just a user who wants to be safe and who excels in another field entirely.

      Thanks so much!
