    • I might have missed something, for sure. But we are now in April and the MS-defcon for the March updates is still at 2 but I can’t see the reason, at least for Win 7.  After almost one month patch reliability is still unclear? Maybe now MS-defcon applies only to Win 10 updates.

      Thank you very much PKCano,

as I’ve said at the beginning of my post, I was sure to be mistaken – although I didn’t know why.

So, for the moment Microsft tells us that the only two editions of Windows 7 that will be eligible for ESU are: (I) Professional; (II) Enterprise.

I apologies for this post, but I’m insisting on this because i.m.o. the fact that Professional qualifies for ESU has not been said loud enough.

I might find useful to use Belarc Advisor, a free software utility that finds all missing updates in your computer.

    • This link says that Win7 ESU will be available for the users of both Ultimate and Professional versions.

No crash, but after installing KB4470199 I recommend you to take a look at your Task Manager and check if all your scheduled Tasks are still there – especially those that you handcrafted. After installing KB4470199 mine have all disappeared.

Since I’ve been following this great forum (a few months) I’ve found, quite interestingly, that its pages have given a lot of space to muslim celebrations: a few weeks ago it was time for the ramadan, now its time for the hajj.

On the other hand, I’ve found, quite interestingly, that some christian celebartions have not been mentioned at all, like, for example, that of the assumption of the holy virgin on august 15th, which has been celebtated by hundreds of millions of people around the world.

My question: on the religious side, is this forum biased towards the muslim religion, or whatever other religion?  If yes, I would definetely unsubscribe and stop reading its pages; if not, I think that the everybody-or-nobody rule should apply equally.

Any reasoned reply from the forum moderators / owners?

      Hi Elly,

can you kindly point me to Noel Carboni’s post regarding his firewall recommendations that you mention? I’ve tried to google but couldn’t find them.

      Thank you!

    • I’m Group A (Windows 7 pro SP1 x64) and this is my story.

I decided to get rid of everything I have installed after December 31st, 2017.

Therefore I have uninstalled all Windows OS and IE patches (I did not touch any other patch) that I had installed since January 1st 2018, in order to bring my PC back to December 2017 rollup.

To do so, I uninstalled  April monthly rollup, and the system automatically installed the March rollup; then I uninstalled March and the system automatically installed February rollup; so I uninstalled February rollup and that of January was automatically installed by the system; finally I got rid of January rollup and the system came back to the December 2017 monthly rollup patch condition, the one released on December 12, 2017.

I uninstalled ALL other Windows OS patches that have been installed since New Year’s Eve.  I also uninstalled KB4100480, very critical patch but included within the latest April rollup.

      Then I uninstalled IE patches (KB4089187; KB4096040).

I want to make it clear that I did not touch any patch other than those regarding the OS and IE (like patches regarding Office, .NET, SQL, and so on).

After that, with my PC back to December 31st condition, I started the Windows Update client, which came out with ONE single update at the end of the process: KB4093118, which I have succesfully installed.

Now my machine runs faster and very smoothly. That’s been my experience.
