      Thank you Microfix,

generally speaking, I knew already the solutions provided by the howtoedge.com link you pointed to, but in my little experience they never delivered the least help to me.

I straightforwardly jumped instead to the over-the-top installation which I performed after downloading a fresh  Windows 10 installation media from Microsoft … and the problem has been solved – let’s omit the several tweaks that I had to manually restore.

But there is still one question mark which I’d like to submit you.

After the installation over-the-top the Windows 10 version installed is 22H2 build 19045.3803 which is the December 2023 build. Now, as I have disabled and blocked any automatic system update, I use Belarc Advisor to see what update is available for my pc and, very strangely, Belarc says that no update is missing. Also wushowhide says that there is no update to hide. I think it shouldn’t be like that, because since Decembre 2023 a lot of builds have been released and now should be missing if you have 19045.3803 installed.

      What do you think?

Thanks a lot for your attention.

      Thanks Paul,

you’re right, that would end all troubles. Actually I’m struggling to make SATA-6 work properly, right because in my laptop equipped with two SSD the difference in performance between the two SATA speed can be materially perceived – not to mention the CrystalDiskMark scores.

      Well,

Hibernation was not enabled (no Hiberfil.sys and no Hibernate option in the Start button)  then I’ve enabled it with the “powercfg /h on” Prompt command (now the hiberfil.sys is there) and made a few trials (Hibernation back and forth, Power-off/on, Restart) but nothing changed. One good thing is that I’ve remembered that Hibernation was not enabled simply because I no circumstance I may need it, so I’d better save a couple of GB of SSD room.

You wrote: “When the system is Powered on/off, the system state is saved in the hiberfile (sleep or hibernation enabled?) The system doesn’t have to go through the BIOS for system information. If you started with SATA-3 on the way up, that setting is retained.”

But … for years the system has worked well with SATA-6 set in the BIOS and without Hibernation enabled.

The question now is: why, starting from a precise point in time, only when the disk speed is set at SATA-6 and the system is Restarted, the laptop does not load the OS (BootDevice Not Found, Error 3F0)?

      Thank you PKCano

I have the sentiment that your reply can be somehow useful to solve my problem, but before addressing what you said, I’m not sure whether Hibernation is enabled or not. Can you please tell me how / where should I check in the OS settings (Windows 11)?

      Thank you RG!

I had found somethig like that before, but it was not as clear as the link you provided. I followed those directions and now everything looks as I want in my Windows 11 laptop.

      Kudos!

Thank you Rick. No need to apologise, I’ve tried so many times unsuccessfully. Maybe it dependes on how the device is affected.

Thank you Alex, I’ve been on this battleground for a couple of months now. Dr. Fone, Ultfone, Tenorshare and many more, they are all the same piece of software being sold under different brands, for the same price and automatic renewal subscrition scheme. They are no more and no less than iTunes, that’s why without it they can’t work.

      Hi EP

as I’m running under 8.1 pro X64 I’ll be very grateful if you will share the outcome of installing KB5012170 under that system.

      Thanks!

So what does each of you recommend: shall we install KB5017220 or we’d better wait and see what?

    • Hello Deanna,
I’ve just used Hasleo to dowload an ISO copy of Windows 10. I have noticed these things that rise a few doubts:

      1) the desktop interface of “Hasleo Windows ISO Downloader” says <<Download Windows 8.1/10/11 ISO from Microsoft’s official website >>, but the IP address the ISO has been downloaded from is 152.199.21.175 which belongs to ANS Communications (Verizon) and it’s not Microsoft;
      3) No SHA-256 string is known / available to check the genuinity / integrity of the file downloaded with Hasleo.

Do you think it is stll safe to use this ISO?
      Thank you.

      Dear Friends,

I want to thank you all who took time and effort to help me.

As my search was made in several places and directions – including AskWoody – I’ve been fortunately able to find an original X-16  single image .exe file from a software reseller who had kept a copy of it. And the full SP2 (KB2687455) is still available in the Microsoft Update Catalog.

      Mission accomplished.

      Thank you very much again!

Thank you Doriel for your efforts and advice. Unfortunately before posting my first call for help on April 9th I had already unsuccessfully tried with the heidoc site and the Windows ISO dowloader. Thank you again.
