Although not about computer security per se  but a recent  mass scare advertisement being  broadcasted about subscribing to a home deed monitoring  service.  In order to protect you from thieves who  try to take out loans against your deed.  Before subscribing to the service check first with your county Recorder of Deeds who in my case with my county; offer  the monitoring service for free.

I use Thunderbird.  It reminds me of the old Eudora simple look with the trash can  icon.

Speaking of the Brave browser.  The Brave search  has a  thing called Goggle.   For the political aficionados it gives you a choice of  left leaning search  or right leaning search.

    • in reply to: So what about Windows 10? #2710508

I used  0patch Pro for years on my W7 desktop until the computer got old and failed.  I have W10 and will do the same thing.  I do banking and stock market trading online.  Never had a problem on my W7. My desktop can’t be converted to W11.

While discussing USB’s, this from Rich on Tech  TV
      Gadget of the Week
One of my best travel hacks is to pack an old-school USB-A cable. While your phone and most chargers have probably upgraded to USB-C, many airplanes and rental cars haven’t.

I pack this USB-A to USB-C cable in an easy-to-reach pocket of my backpack so I can easily stay charged up on the plane and in the car. And sure, you could plug in using a power outlet, but this is much easier on most flights and gives you insurance against USB jacks that haven’t been upgraded.

Check with your county Office of the Recorder of Deeds.   My county offers the  alert for free when ever some one is searching your title they notify you.  Not all counties offer the service.

    • They should do the same with the real telegram company Western Union.  The terrorists and drug dealers send money back and forth from and to their home countries.

    • in reply to: How my Internet outage caused security problems #2705635

Happens to me  every so many years.  I still have  a  landline.  The squirrels eat the wire at the line connection.  When the techs come out I tell them it’s the squirrels. They don’t believe me.  They jump through hoops before finally  giving up and listening to me and go to the source I originally told them about.

So that means those of us who don’t have the above will be making a trip to the local SS office instead.

I have that cat and mouse game played on me from ebay.  I go in unsigned and it has a low price listed . I sign in and it disappears.  Other times I want to buy the same item and it isn’t listed.  I go into purchase history and  it has buy again.  In which I do.  Sometimes deleting the cookie gives a different result.
