      Advantages of registering…
      1) Once you are past the first post, you can post without moderation.
      2) You become part of the community here, and your voice and experience can be recognized.
      3) It makes less work for Woody and the MPVs, who must moderate and approve every anonymous post (respecting their time and energy).

      Advantages of being anonymous…
      1) You are just getting a question answered, and aren’t here for anything more. Why register if you aren’t coming by this way again?
      2) Some people have clearly known issues of being identified in any way, and you stay safe, whether political, or from targeted personal violence.
      3) No one knows you had that dumb question, or controversial point of view, and it won’t follow you.

    • I doubt any of the software would be useful to me, but the idea of having it made available is exciting… and might be fun to search through just to see what kinds of things are possible… and free! Wait… that “Auto Draw From Excel Input Files” looks interesting…  Thanks, Crysta

    • Suppose Microsoft does come up with a “better” Windows 10 that allows me to control all telemetry (essential) and updates…

I still have to get over their unethical behavior. It wasn’t a mistake; they intentionally decided to force Win 10 onto their previously happy customer’s computers. It is one thing to forgive a mistake. It is another to give bad guys (people who think unethical behavior is okay unless caught) access into my home, my computer.

Maybe if they clean out the top management, publicly apologize, provide fixes for anyone who was upgraded and didn’t wind it back within 30 days and can’t find their OEM key, and start over… precise, step by step supports for those non-techies caught in their marketing fraud… In fact, free tech support for anyone unhappy with their “upgrade”… They need to honorably fix what they’ve done. Somebody in the corporation must be decent and objected to the malware that is Win 10. High standards, but the right ones, from a basic honesty standard. Otherwise, I’m done playing with any Microsoft product, ever… even if it is the best thing since (name your best thing choice), or isn’t easy… and I’m not a techie, just a grandma trying to keep up with the young ones…

@woody: I did not subscribe to this Forum, however just received an e-mail indicating that I have. ???? …

Apologies for the inquiry, however I’m baffled as to the reason it shows I’m “subscribed”.

If you make any replies to a topic, scroll down from the edit box and there is a check box under the reply that says “Notify me of follow-up replies via e-mail” It is automatically checked. Uncheck it before submitting reply and you will not receive any e-mails on that thread (unless you have already subscribed at the top).

Not sure if that applies to you, but it happened to me that way, so sharing my experience.

    • So, they have a product. They have customers that want the product. But they don’t want customers to have the product because they want to exploit them. Definitely sounds like they have gone to the dark side.

    • Been using Startpage since soon after it started. It will allow you to use their proxy to view results… very private. Suits me, and I search out all kinds of things.

    • Funny thing, I want my current features to work, not to have them disabled by “newer” or “better” things. I don’t want to have to reset my settings every four months, and I want settings that give me control over my operating system and computer. I want to decide which “features” to add and which to delete when I don’t want them. That would be better for me… Consumer Elly

KB2953664 disappeared off my updates list. It was never installed, never hidden. Win 7 Home Group B set to never check (just had to look, though). It didn’t show up as a recommended or optional update, either, when I ran updates. The January Cumulative one, that I didn’t want, did show up, along with a few others… but no KB2953664 in any form.

Sometimes a LOL button would be good… definitely laughing (but better than crying at a bad update).

I’m thinking that the Wordpad/Notepad solution is working. It isn’t part of the Lounge, but I can’t imagine a way to log in at the level of the right comment and staying there. I’m just happy staying on the same page… there’s a logic to logging in and staying on the same page. I know how I got there, and I can scroll back. I can manage the rest…

Someone had brought up pages for the threads… If there were pages, it would mean less long distance scrolling! That might be way easier to implement…

I could use Notepad that way! I don’t think I have Wordpad. That might be a good solution to not getting lost! With the increased volume of comments, it was becoming an issue more often. I can cut and paste efficiently. Thank you, trying it right away…

    • in reply to: Forum Link Suggestion #93528

I can right click on a link and get a menu that lets me open it in a new tab. Not techy, so don’t know if that happens for everyone, or just my browser, or some setting somewhere. Maybe work for you?

Yes, refreshing the page shows me logged in, and even though I didn’t look logged in, I was able to comment as myself without refreshing…

But, without refreshing, the page showed me no edit button (as if I was anonymous), so that is why I posted separately about the edit 2 test.

Interesting mix of logged in and not.

I hope Woody can see that logging in keeps me in place. Whoops, I can see that just in logging in I go to the top of the page and lose my place in the comments…

Just a learning curve, I guess.
