Unless you have a known non-fixable problem with 1803, I don’t understand why you want to block it anyway. Worst case scenario is you roll back to 1709.

Even after a mystery update today 5/5/18, still on 17134.1

Probably Windows Defender definitions. That’s what I got today.

Same here. Used upgrade in place from USB to install 1803 on May 1.

No further updates yet (except the Office one). Still at build 17134.1.

    • I never sign into my Microsoft account unless I have to so I’m generally running on a local account. No complaints from Windows Defender here.

I’m also not seeing any significant slowdowns since upgrading. I haven’t noticed any difference at all, so far at least.

      Upgraded to 1803 yesterday evening.

Sadly, 7+ Taskbar Tweaker is not working with this update. It pops up an error saying it can’t load a dll file and can’t integrate with File Explorer.

I hope this is upgraded soon. I didn’t realize how much I had come to depend on this great little utility.

Start10 is working just fine for me after upgrading to 1803 last night.

It has nothing to do with how good your password is or whether you use it on other sites.

Look at the address bar on any page where you’re not logged in and are being asked to log in. It is not https:// (SSL/TLS). Not an encrypted connection. That means when you enter your password it could be intercepted.

Google is currently sending messages to all sites requiring log-in that at the very least the log-in page(s) MUST be https://

This site is apparently not in compliance with that yet.

I’ve been using Start10 for some time now. Works great. Reliable. Gives me the option of a familiar Windows 7 interface although there are other options.

    • in reply to: Recurring daily (Logitech) driver update #1567943

I don’t have the answer but I’ve had the same issue with Windows update and a Canon printer fax update, not only in Windows 10 but previously in Windows 7. In my case, it wasn’t daily but it happened with almost every Tuesday update. I gave up trying to find the solution; it was easier just to let WU install and reinstall it with every batch of updates.

It didn’t seem to affect the use or function of my printer. It was just a bizarre annoyance.

    • Disabled all non-MS services. Problem still occurs.

    • I have already checked. No items are disabled.

I suppose I can try #2 but if I have to reboot each time that’s gonna take a month.

Does the fact that it’s opening the Windows/System folder indicate that it’s a windows service?

    • in reply to: Can’t install Office 2010 or Outlook 2010 in Windows 10 #1530294

Uninstalled 7 listed updates. Won’t install 2 others. Can’t create a log file for some reason.

    • I didn’t meet any of those conditions either and it wouldn’t install repeatedly on that laptop (and believe me I was persistent – I tried approximately 10-12 times before I gave up).

That update installed fine on my desktop too.

My post here was to help others to troubleshoot the problem rather than going through my 3-4 day process.

    • in reply to: Firefox 24: Restore Session error #1416196

FYI, this is not new to the latest Firefox versions. I’ve seen it intermittently on both my desktop and my laptop since about version 18 or so. It generally seems to happen with a forced shutdown or system initiated reboot or power outage, all of which tells me it’s an issue when Firefox doesn’t shut down correctly.

This will happen if you failed to reboot after installing IE10. With IE updates, several core Windows components are affected.
