Apart from the name on this web site are there any plans to preserve Woody’s legacy other than in memories.  With all the brain power of the Ask Woody members surely a suitiable lasting memoral could be conceived. E.G. some type of computer assistance to youngsters in the form of membership and sponsorship from the more learned amongst us. I’m sure other members will have lots of ideas. Woody gone but never forgotten.

Many of us wouldn’t be where we are today without Woody. Too young. Too soon. Blessings upon him. An all around good guy.

Rick Corbett, thanks for the informative reply. IMO MS is slowly painting Windows into the too hard basket. As much as I hate  to admit it a tablet is a far less complicated and easier platform for the average old age person. I am such a person with smart phone, Samsung tablet and an Asus Experbook lap top. The amount of time I spend looking after Windows 11 compared to the other two devices makes me wonder if Windows has lost the plot and out lived it’s usefulness, in my situation that is. Cheers, Chris.

Hello Susan, am I correct in thinking there are no MS monthly Updates in December? If yes thank goodness for the break. If no,
why no updates at the busiest time of the year when all the bad people are on the hunt?
As always sincere thanks for Ask Woody and seasons greetings.

Many thanks for the reply. I understand and never fiddle in the Registry. To dumb to do it but smart enough to leave it well alone.

Yes I am. Thanks for the reply.

On my recently bought Asus ExpertBook Windows 11 Pro  Bitlocker was up and running. However I suspect MS. Now off thanks to advice on this site.

Window 11 Pro MS Account. Last evening located and turned off Bitlocker, down loaded and installed 3 available updates via WuMgr then sat back fingers crossed. Relatively quick with no problems or surprises. Breathed easy as I do every month after my tip toe through MUM (Microsoft Update Minefield).

PS  I have the Bitlocker Key off the computer in a couple of places just in case. I trust Ask Woody and Susan:  MS et al?  Not so much.

MG sites clearly states no updates on free Macrium. I downloaded a trial from Macrium.

    • in reply to: So what do you use for Search? #2673232

DDG on all devices. Always has been.  Too old to change and too private a person to put up with the all invasive Google trying to continually pre-empt my line of thought. I use a MS computer for a modicum of control. Google on tablet and ‘smart’ phone is all I can stand.

Perfect! As always PKCano and many other kind generous Ask Woodyites have given me all I need to set up a reliable backup. Now the slow step by step work begins. Sadly though Macrium Free is no more. Thanks a million one and all. Kind regards, Chris in Oz.
