      Thanks for all the responses.

I think ‘image’ might be best for me (I ‘local backup’ to image each week using Acronis) … no hardware to buy … and I’m still not sure whether I have a ‘sata/ssd , so have to ‘open and visually’ check inside the laptop , just to be sure before purchase.

Will give it more thought … many thanks

Not sure why I have 32-bit Office installed ; it has been a while since I installed it. And no easy way to go to 64-bit now.

Re the security updates , I see no alternative to keeping Office updates disabled , as the August update would just reinstall alongside the security updates. An update issue for for resolution in the future. And I guess that Office 2021 will have the same issues that I find problematic with the Office 2019 UI.

As you suggest , I will roll back to v2305.

Thank you .. once I roll-back or reinstall from an image , I think my Office 2019 will not be updated (ever) beyond the July update

Thanks for the info .. I will run the command as soon as I have time

    • I think you are wrong, and would suggest you read and follow the guide given by Susan in ‘Tasks for the weekend May 1, 2021 – How to remove IE

When I followed her instructions, my computer had a ‘button’ which said ‘Uninstall’.

Just uninstalled IE11, and Outlook 2016 was then unable to open links in emails.
Reinstalled IE11 and problem was resolved.

    • .. and what do you use in place of outlook?

If ‘check for update’ was used , and the laptop was ‘not yet ready’ for v2004 , would it update to v1909?

      My mistake .. so ..

Re:  Laptop already factory reset to v1709 .. no data to save.

What is the  easiest  way to update to v2004?

      Can auto-update manage the update?

The person who will have to update the laptop wuold not manage going to v1909 (which I do run on my laptop)  🙂

I have iTunes installed, and use an old iPhone 4s (as #2 phone for several years).

But why would the update appear now?
