@anonymous My mistake. Not sure how that happened. Perhaps @oscarcp was merely recommending this thread.  I’m relatively new here.

I have recently removed CCleaner but have stuck with Avast Free antivirus for the convenience of using its ‘Secure Browser’ Bank Mode for internet purchases and because it already has many of my passwords stored. However  I had been advised a while back to change to Kapersky by a more tech-savvy friend.

I appreciate the list you have supplied, @Microfix .

Can anyone please recommend a reliable free password manager? Or should I just type them in manually each time to be on the safe side?

As you seem to at least be familiar with Linux, could I ask you a question, please, @OscarP?
Do you know if Linux is compatible with running WordPress websites? I help my husband out with 2 of his WordPress sites and he basically does the content and leaves the rest up to me. I’m feeling rather daunted at the prospect of not being able to use Windows 7 come January. Or perhaps I should be posting this question in a different section of AskWoody.

I am in Australia.  KB 4462923 is still offered checked today . After reading certain posts today, I checked Update history then Installed Updates and KB3177467 was installed on 14th October 2016. (That was long before I discovered AskWoody website.)
Probably then safe for me to install the former, but think I will wait and watch for a while.
