AskWoody LoungerMay 20, 2022 at 3:21 pm in reply to: Master Patch List as of May 19, 2022 – out of band for server auth issues #2448006Yes, that is correct. The only certificate that is being used (as far as I know) is the one remote access cert. xxxxx.remotewebaccess.com. When I ran connect on the clients to the server I ran the reg tweak so the client would not attach using the server domain controller. So for the 2012 r2 I run the first May patch and then I run the OOB secondly.
Thanks again for your help and insight.

Need some basic help on this months patches. Your patch list indicates to test machine before applying. What type of test need to be completed that would tell you if these patches need to applied. Thank you for your help.

AskWoody LoungerSo do I need to install KB5009695 or KB5009624 before installing KB5010794 for Server 2012 R2? Or do I need to install the single KB5010794? Thanks again.

AskWoody LoungerConfused.. In your email that you sent out
“Now comes the fly in the ointment. In order to properly patch Server 2012 R2, you must install both the original patch released in January (choose either KB5009610 monthly rollup or the KB5009621 security-only update) and then install the out-of-band update KB5010798. This ensures that you reboot only after the installation of the out-of-band update, not after the initial install of the monthly rollup or the security-only patch. On these older platforms, you choose monthly rollup or security-only; they are not cumulative updates, as the Windows 10/11 patches are.”
When I look at the KB number listed it shows that these belong to patching Server 2008 R2 and not Server 2012 R2. Please take a look and advise. Thanks.

AskWoody LoungerSeptember 8, 2020 at 12:01 pm in reply to: MS-DEFCON 4: Install the August updates, but avoid the Optional and non-security patches #2294894Yes I have had the ESU since the first of the year and I added an additional ESU patch I think it was in May or June. No issues with any of the patches until that one machine lost its mind yesterday. Thanks for the info.

AskWoody LoungerSeptember 8, 2020 at 11:48 am in reply to: MS-DEFCON 4: Install the August updates, but avoid the Optional and non-security patches #2294889Should I have used KB4575903 before installing the Aug patches. I have 5 ESU machines and 4 of them had no issues with the two recommended patches plus the stack update. I saw several post about KB4575903 and when or if I needed to run it. I am in the process of trying what to do to fix the 5th machine that is showing some strange behavior after this Aug patch. This machine is one of three same spec machines. Please advise on the the KB4575903 question. Thank you.

AskWoody LoungerMay 13, 2020 at 10:47 am in reply to: Many reports of errors when trying to install the latest .NET patch on Win7 systems with Extended Security Updates enabled #2262280I am confused. I have 5 ESU lic that have been working and updating fine over the last several months. Can I just run the updates like I have been doing or do I need to run kb4538483 (ESU update??) before installing any of May updates. Thanks.
