AskWoody LoungerOn your original topic , periodically during each year I can get Norton Premium and Defenber to run at the same time!! I don’t know how I did it but both were doing there jobs. for the most part the two will NOT run together.when that happens Defender losses and shuts down, goes to orange the to red.

AskWoody LoungerI have been using Norton Premium 5-10 computers for about 10 yrs. I never heard of the messes you have had! I have NEVER HAD to save my passwords to Norton. Although, there is a vault segment that one can do that if one wants to. I use the same Norton Premium download or Hard copy on 4 or 5 different computers. Last year the one software for 5-10 computers costs me $59.95. Never have I had any trouble. My main computer runs Windows 7 SP1 x64 and 8GB Ram and 1TB HHD

AskWoody LoungerHad that problem too!! I found that opening the services Icon under administrative in your start. When the page comes up scroll down the three diagnostics entries and click each to open and start them if not already started. then scroll down the list to windows update and start it up. Usually you don’t have to restart computer, you can open windows update and have your cchoice on how to set it and to look for updates, This worked for me.

AskWoody LoungerDecember 8, 2017 at 9:40 am in reply to: 2000004: How to apply the Win7 and 8.1 Monthly Rollups #150835To rb : I found that the use of so high powered programs might cause the fan(s) to run But a dirty fan will most likely be the culprit. Turn off, unplug and use vacuum to clean all fans. Fans attract dust you can’t see.

AskWoody LoungerNovember 26, 2017 at 11:14 am in reply to: Brinkmann: Win10 1709 group policy setting incorrectly blocking cumulative updates? #147469Microsoft has limited most 3rd party software to Windows 10 thru threats that they have to couldn’t be accessed except thru windows 10. But that is the way Microsoft is working now! Now windows 7 can be be whipped out.

AskWoody LoungerNovember 26, 2017 at 11:09 am in reply to: Brinkmann: Win10 1709 group policy setting incorrectly blocking cumulative updates? #147467The glitter of the advertisement of Windows 10 is over and those who switched are realizing that Windows 10 has no glitter! Windows 10 will never get better than the Windows 7 you were using. Windows-7 had no problems with accessing it all. Windows 10 can’t access without problems galore. Wishing you had stayed with windows 7?

AskWoody LoungerI run an original windows 7 sp1 x64 home premium. I have downloaded and installed (4). Nets since December 2016. The last time I downloaded and installed 4.7. Net on the 14 May 2017. Although, all (4) are listed the only one that is actively running is the latest version. I have had no trouble with it at all. The. NET’S apparently are the morter that holds the windows system together so it runs in harmony and as one. I just have not found an understandable defination for. Net, that is for Non-geeks.

AskWoody Lounger.Window 7 is WELL WORTH THE RISK!!! Windows 7 is (if cautiously) security patched only, the worthiest and best Windows platform that has ever been put out for public use. Every part of this platform was easy and non-complicated to use and was highly functional for every aspect of life on the computer. Now it has a shorter life, according to MS, but seemly will be functional for most uses until 2022-23. We will just have to wait, use and see. The crippled new OS, Windows 10 will never command the uses that Windows 7 has. I am afraid that 2022 will be the year that MS (windows) ceases. This is my own opinion only..

AskWoody LoungerMy thinking is that MS has very hurt feelings and pocketbook over Win 10. They are paying out more than any OS has cost to produce. They have found that Win 10 at a 33% of computers and Window 7 at 51% of computers is loosing them a tremendous amount of money. The trash patches on Win 10 are about the same amount that is on Windows 7.

AskWoody LoungerNovember 1, 2017 at 9:36 am in reply to: Julie Larson-Green leaves Microsoft, effective today #143074Let’s wait until a very reliable source can post the real reason for Ms. Green leaving MS and what her plans are for the future. Speculations lead to false rumors and mass confusion. Woody and his professional staff will keep us apprised of developing information.

AskWoody LoungerAppears that the Andromedia OS, is just an attempt to enhance the atrocious WIN 10. We are dedicated to preserve WIN 7 to the extent that maybe Microsoft will take the adaptable parts of Win 10 and incorporate them into the BEST Windows OS that has every been developed. Win 7 has been the widest used by all parts of the world, than another OS by any name. It is still the most functional for all uses. Sorry, I just had to vent a tiny bit….

AskWoody LoungerAm using an antique version of Windows 7 SP1 x64 (Oct 2009). I installed Net 4.7 on June 14th this year. Have been getting update to that Net and also combined updates to3 other net versions since then. They are installed and I have not encountered any noticeable problems.

AskWoody LoungerOctober 17, 2017 at 9:16 am in reply to: Questions: what should be installed onto windows 7? #138370Thanks PKCano:, I guess that I haven’t much choice but to let MS into my entire home, in order to maintain my ‘old’ desktop. My version of windows 7 sp1 x64 home premium desktop doesn’t have touch screen program, so my 20 inch monitor is just a standard HD, no frills monitor. No mic or camera programs.
