Many thanks for taking the time to research this. I followed your link to the Epson site on both computers. The Win 11 laptop is 1 TB HD, AMD Ryzen 7700, Acer 3 16GB RAM. On Win 10, it opened up and offered several downloads for whichever year you choose. On the Win 11 machine, the site did not offer anything. So, I called Epson and was greeted by Shaquielle O’Neal apologizing for the wait and calling for the guys in the back room to get on it. Great Marketing!!! First rep tried to help but ultimately decided to just send me a link to the files I need. So far so good. I then went through the download and install process only to get to the end and have Microsoft REJECT the download instructing me to contact the vendor. I called Epson again and the rep walked me through disabling security features such as Firewall and Anti Virus software. None of these suggestions worked. I am wise enough to not even think about contacting Microsoft; they have NEVER resolved any issue I ever contacted them about. If anyone has any possible solutions to this, I would really appreciate your assistance.

Susan: You say “If you are a fan of POP mail, I strongly recommend that you start investigating alternative email platforms, such as Thunderbird”. Would you or someone else explain this more fully? Is IMAP safer than POP?

astro46: I have the same attitude about Edge as you. But I do update it occasionally because I fear that an out of date app could be compromised. Perhaps someone here can validate which is the correct choice to make???

      Ben,

Three years ago, I bought a  basic HP computer (Win 10 SSD 256) when I noticed my older gaming computer was getting finicky. I have started using it this year. It came with PC Assist Software UK Essential Office installed on it. Free MS 365 is on it too but I never registered it with my Outlook email address. I used this Essential Office for a few documents and noticed that these were also being saved by MS 365 as Word documents. Do you know anything about this Essential Office product? Can you explain what is occurring with MS 365?

I am going down a lot of rabbit holes here today for my 4 year old HP 12GB RAM 256 SSD Windows 10 Home.

      1. It says my PC meets system requirements.

      2. BUT when I go to Device Encryption Support it says- Reason for failed automatic device encryption: Hardware Security Test Interface failed and device is not Modern Standby, Un-allowed DMA capable bus/device(s) detected

      3. Then tried Binary Risk Intelligence per the article.

Results: sha 256   PK Fail  Untrusted Certificate

      4. Then Swagger Editor Documentation was the TKO.

What is the chance MS will offer me Windows 11 and/or encryption on this simple of a system and do I get to CHOOSE whether to install them.

Please advise on the severity of any of these problems with my machine so that I can have it corrected by a professional if necessary. Thank you for all the solutions you provide.

Another oddity was what MS sent me 2 weeks ago. I posted  “Upon starting my HP Desktop (4 year old machine) this morning I was offered an upgrade to Windows 10 N. I cannot find much info in the newsletters or forums. Susan Bradley replied that I should never have been offered that. Recently I purchased a iMac. Hoping that will be less stressful.

My sense is that it came from Microsoft which mentioned my Apple things (iCloud) that I visit on this Win 10 machine. I seldom use any MS products such as Edge or Bing. I use Brave browser and DuckDuckGo for search. Thank you for the brilliance you always willingly share.

      Paul,

As a novice, I sensed I was losing many things that I am accustomed to and gained a few others that I doubt I need. I will read your link thoroughly now and report back if necessary. Thanks for you time and valuable insights.

No I do not. I believe it had something to do with my Apple accounts (iCloud, etc). The popup did not give me the option to minimize it. I somehow lost it when I went to read the link for Microsoft explanations about it.  This is a link to that page.

I appreciate all the time you spent solving this riddle. I am in mid 70’s and came to this game too late in life to begin editing registry items. I do hope you answers will help others facing the same issues. I have decided to only use MS product for MS emails I have. I will open my Google and Comcast accounts in their respective sites. Plus this has caused me to buy an iMac. Goodbye MS.

I follow Susan Bradley’s advice for updates. I seem to no longer have a way to toggle off this NEW Outlook ergo I am forced to accept this New Outlook which I prefer to not use based upon this forum post. Do you know of a way to toggle back to the Old Outlook?

After denying MS attempts to force me into the NEW Outlook, which I use to conveniently access 8 email addresses in the old version, they forced it upon me this morning. There is no longer a toggle switch to return to the older version. Does anyone know of a way to revert back to the OLD version? Question 2 – Is there an alternative email handler that will give me convenient access to 8 separate email accounts (comprised of G mail, Outlook, and Comcast accounts?
