    • in reply to: Firefox 135.0.1+linuxmint2+una “Rebuild”? #2752119

Nothing new on Mozilla’s FTP site for 135.0.1 in the Linux directories. Everything there’s dated February 18th, even the stuff in the “update” folder which contains update files to go from the immediately prior versions  to 135.0.1. The files are in a .mar format which, I believe, Firefox’s  built-in updater uses.

Perhaps you’re right, @Charlie, in that the other file that’s included in your screenshot is an updated EULA for FF disguised as a “rebuild” of 135.0.1.

    • @LHiggins, why not ask T-Mobile if they have a battery backup unit for that gateway? Especially if the gateway’s signal is used by any sort of medical device(s) that use the signal to report in to a medical provider of some sort.

After reading through this thread and your experiences in trying to find an aftermarket battery backup for it, it sounds to me as if you might be “stuck” with a proprietary power feed for that gateway. If so, you might have no other recourse than to use whatever battery backup is made available from T-Mobile or the gateway’s manufacturer.

    • in reply to: FEB 2025 W10 Updates – No monsters here #2750516

      …No issues so far.

That’s good to know going forward, but I do have a question: Did you get Outlook (new) as part of the monthly update, or were you blocking it with the registry entry and so you didn’t receive it? If you got it as part of the monthly update, did you accept it because you wanted to use it as a successor to Outlook?

      * I don’t know what elsewhere means

It simply means that the Amazon Appstore won’t be available on any Android-based devices, but will still be available on Amazon Fire TV and Amazon Fire Tablet devices.

    • in reply to: Occasional Keyboard Unresponsive #2748773

No, I don’t have another keyboard lying around to test. I’m not going to spend money on a new keyboard and mouse if the same thing happens again.

If replacing the batteries with fresh ones with a long expiration date doesn’t do the trick, see if a friend or relative nearby might allow you to borrow theirs for a small period of time, say for a couple of days, and see if those act up in the same way with intermittent behavior. They don’t have to be wireless, they can be wired. The point is to try to isolate the problem to either your computer or the mouse and keyboard as being the source of the errant behavior.

Also, see @Paul-T’s post #2748737 just below here.

    • in reply to: Occasional Keyboard Unresponsive #2748706

It is a Logitech wireless keyboard with wireless mouse combo.

Some basic research on Logitech’s site indicates that most (if not all?) wireless keyboards and mice use the 2.4 GHz band for their communication and many have a range of up to 33 feet. Some wireless keyboards and mice also use Bluetooth in the same frequency range.

When the frequency or frequencies the keyboard and mouse are using become congested, sometimes the signal quality can degrade to the point that they will only intermittently work, and intermittent functioning can also be a sign of weak batteries as pointed out by @b right below.

So, if you live in an area with very high 2.4 GHz bandwidth usage, such as in a high density apartment or condominium complex, interference could be a reason for your troubles as well as low batteries, or even a malfunctioning driver.

First, though, as Paul suggests in his reply above, see if you can get a different keyboard and mouse and plug them into the very same USB ports you’re currently using for your keyboard and mouse. If the replacements work consistently, then that points to your current ones as having one if the issues described above, weak batteries, interference in their frequency or a driver with minor issues.

    • Windows Installer reconfigured the product. Product Name: Windows PC Health Check. Product Version: 3.7.2204.15001. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation. Reconfiguration success or error status: 0. I haven’t installed any Windows updates this morning. I have installed Feb. updates on Thursday Feb 13.

So what’s your question or problem, Alex? What you posted appears to be simply an explanation of what happened, complete with a screenshot.

Are you wanting to know why all the listed software was reconfigured?

If you’re just providing the information in order to help others, please bear in mind that just because something like the application reconfiguration happened on your machine doesn’t automatically mean that it’s going to happen on many others’ machines.

As of four hours ago when I first checked the links in @B’s post, the results were as he indicates, 2 out of 71, with one of the hits being from Kaspersky. This statement is true for both links @b provided, so both files.

As of just a few minutes ago, the scanner has been rerun on the file, and it now indicates that only 1 of 71 is positive (from AliCloud), and the positive result for both files from Kaspersky has been changed from a positive result to “undetected” for both files.

In other words, Alex, it looks like Kaspersky decided that it was a false positive that you experienced. To be sure, manually update the definition file(s) of your Kaspersky installation and try re-downloading the portable version of Uninstalr and see what Kaspersky says about it.

Now that you’ve vanquished it, as you said above hopefully it won’t return.

    • in reply to: Where are my subscriptions/subscribed topcs?? #2747622

Susan, ‘Topics started’ and ‘replies created’ for a profile doesn’t show the correct posts.

@Alex5723, can you please go to your profile page and click on the icon that looks like a group of three people together:Muted-usersSee if your username appears on that page. If it does, that means that you’ve accidentally muted yourself. Simply click the “X” next to your name to remove yourself from that list. That should also restore your listings for Topics created and Replies created back to normal.

I just deliberately muted myself to see what would happen, and I had the same incorrect listings for my Topics created and Replies created as you’ve described.

    • in reply to: 7-Zip Update #2747614

Not completely fixed in 24.09. Per the SANS Institute’s Diary entry on February 10, 2025, one still has to enable the propagation of the MoW via a drop-down menu entry that’s documented in the Diary entry. This includes the latest version as well according to the diary entry, and I found that to be true on my own machines. On both machines which are running 24.09, I had to change the entry in the drop down box mentioned in the diary entry.

    • in reply to: It’s all a bit mute.. #2747609

Any members tried muting themselves to see what happens? 🙂

      Yes, I just did that.

When muted, I couldn’t see any of my replies nor topics that I started. Instead, I saw everyone else’s topics and replies on my profile page under Topics started and Replies created.

To remove the proverbially self-applied duct tape from my mouth, I simple removed myself from the list of muted users on my profile page and, voilà I was back.

    • in reply to: February 2025 updates are upon us #2747600

And the registry data was previously added in the correct format and location.

I was pretty sure you had, but thanks for the confirmation.  🙂

Given how much discussion went on about the exactly correct format for the value in that key, let’s see if anyone else gets new Outlook installed because they didn’t have the value in the key in the exactly correct format.

What would be funny (but frustrating in reality for those affected) would be if several folks mirrored your experience and got new Outlook installed anyway by this month’s Windows 10 update. Would be somewhat of a black eye for MS in that their guidance would’ve been proven incorrect beyond a shadow of a doubt.

    • in reply to: February 2025 updates are upon us #2747552

@EricB, maybe installing the monthly update in a test VM affected the outcome somehow?? Validation of your experience will come from the same thing happening to those installing the February update on an actual machine where they’ve previously added the registry key in the correct format and location.

    • in reply to: Unable to open Download file in Win 10 #2747496

I can’t open the Download file in Windows 10. …I’ve tried to open the Download file and it hangs with “Not Responding.” …

Exactly which “Download file” are you referring to? A more detailed description of the exact file and its location will help us help you.
