AskWoody PlusSusan –
I’ve lost track of which Windows 10 update we should be on now. Is it 22H2 or 23H2?
Same question for Windows 11.
If it is 23H2 – are there REG files available?

AskWoody PlusI’m a bit confused by your documentation. Why do I need to run WinScan2PDF after running Portable? Also – I can’t find Portable installed anywhere on my PC after I install it. It is not in my Start>Programs apps anywhere nor is in my list of apps installed on my PC. What is going on?

AskWoody PlusJanuary 8, 2024 at 6:13 am in reply to: Software updater or no software updater? That is the question. #2619280I keep trying to install and run Update Hub but I get an error message:
Outdated winget version
This feature requires winget 1.4.11071 or later in order to function properly. Your current installed version is 1.4.10173. Please update your winget via the Microsoft Store. It is called Desktop app installer.
When I do a search for “Desktop app installer” in the Microsoft Store I get a confusing set of possibilities to download. Why can’t MS keep it simple and take me to the exact download I need?
Can someone direct me to the correct winget update download? Thanks

AskWoody PlusI tried installing and running but it tells me I need more a current version of Winget but I can’t find/figure out how to download this from the hub. Totally confusing software.

AskWoody PlusAgreed – my main desktop is Win10 and my laptop which I only use when traveling is Win11. I think I will wait until Win12 to by a new desktop.

AskWoody PlusGood recommendation. I’m still using MS Office, but when I get a new Windows 11 PC I may not buy it again. This looks like a very stripped down version of Office/LibreOffice/OpenOffice.
I got my almost 90 year old dad to start using LibreOffice rather than subscribe Office 365. He might like this one even better.

AskWoody PlusThe 2nd PC ever bought in 1986 had a 30 MB (megabyte or 0.00003 TB) hard drive that cost me $370 . My 1st PC did not have a hard drive. LOL.
Times sure have changed.

AskWoody PlusI did read the article and my msinfo32 doesn’t match what you say is safe. Does this my computer doesn’t support a secure boot? If not, is there anyway to make my PC safe without buying a new one?

AskWoody PlusI have similar issues as @cynicalsnail
After the update my msinfo32 says:
BIOS Mode : UEFI
Secure Boot State: OffI have a Custom Build – Intel i5 9400 5 Core CPU & ASUS TUF Z390 Plus Motherboard and don’t know the myinfo32 was before the current update.
Do I need to do anything to change the above? If so, how do I correct this?

AskWoody PlusI’ve noticed that as well – but not as extreme as junk in inbox. MS changed something in their system or they must be letting Twitter manage their online Outlook/Hotmail email system.

cheers, Paul
I didn’t think Office 2021 Home & Office included Outlook. I don’t want to pay for Office 365 – I hate subscriptions
