I have multiple personal installations of Win10, Win7 and XP, some multiboot, some VM's. I also periodically provide some free technical support for deserving family and close friends. Over three decades I've spent over 10,000 hours fixing often esoteric Windows problems, many of course caused by Microsoft's own updates. For some of those fixes, there were like only one or two webpages describing the fix on the entire internet (which took a lot of finding)! Some of the more arcane fixes I've had to discover by myself. Langalist, then Windows Secrets newsletter, then the AskWoody Plus newsletter, and their associated forum posts, have educated me and helped me solve problems uncountable times. I also do a little light upgrading / parts replacement / electronics etc. repairs (only when needed!) to Desktop computers and my own laptops. I found my current Desktop on the kerb years ago, and it just needed a couple of capacitors replaced and new Windows/Office licenses! I live in Melbourne, Australia. Here's a saying I coined: *Real* Windows geeks never reimage or reinstall Windows, we edit registries instead. (If you 'get' that joke, you are also an elite Windows geek! [And Ghod help you too!] ) The three rules of computing: BACKUP! BACKUP! BACKUP!
