so retried a number of times to set the RSS feed up again and it suddenly connected and went in

Will monitor the RSS feed to see if it stays in place. Not sure if it is an intermittent issue

Deleted and attempted to reinstall a number of times.

Outlook 2013 message is attached

Whilst you might own the hardware, the Windows OS is licensed software.

I installed KB5018410 for windows 10 21H2 on my backup PC and it resulted in consistent BSODs saying Boot Drive Inaccessible. Took me ages to finally uninstall the update to revert the machine back to normal

I  installed the October 2022 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 21H2, KB5018410 and on one PC it seems to have no serious impact.

However on a second PC it started giving BSODs saying “inaccessible boot device”. When I finally managed to uninstall the update things returned to normal. Seriously thinking about uninstalling it from my main PC as a precaution.

had the same thing on a win 10 pc with 8MB of RAM. It took over an hour to update just crawling from 55% to 90%. I just let it do its thing and it finished clean.

On the other PC with 16MB RAM it just flew through in normal fashion.  Both PCs had SSDs

So this turns out to be the solution, which is to roll back the Office update.

Hi

The link in the shortcut turns out to be:

“C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\client\AppVLP.exe” “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\Root\Office15\WINWORD.EXE”

Only had Office 2013 installed

However when checking the Excel shortcut the link is:

“C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15\EXCEL.EXE”

The link on the previous Word shortcut was “C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\Root\Office15\WINWORD.EXE”. So something changed after some Windows updates to cause thi not to work.

final follow up.

I checked the newly created shortcut and after right clicking the file location pointed to appvlp.exe.

rechecked running Winword.exe directly and it still fails with the same error.

Still it now works.

Update it is fixed

I deleted the shortcut on the desktop which had stopped showing the Compatibility tab

Went to the Start menu, then Office 13 and then Word 13, it ran. Should have checked the obvious first.

Used that to create a new desktop shortcut which under Properties now shows the Compatibility  tab
