When trying to open folders I created, I keep getting this message: You don’t currently have permission to access this folder

How can I access my own folders once and for all?

Have you tried browsing to the folder with Windows Explorer?
Can you double click on the file in Explorer?

      cheers, Paul

Assuming you are logged in an account with administrator’s privileges:

Right click the folder/file and select Properties
      Select the Security tab
      Highlight Everyone
Look at the security settings in the box below
Place a check in the box for Full control in the Allow column
      Click Apply and OK.

Sometimes this occurs because Everyone is not listed in the groups and names listed. If this happens, then you first have to add Everyone to the list. If you need instructions for how to add Everyone, let me know.

        HTH Dana,

Your suggestion works on one Word file.  Can I do it for the whole folder so I don’t have to do it for each file in the folder?

      Yes.

Right click the Folder and perform the same steps in the Security tab of the Properties  window that you performed on that.
After you click Apply and you see the checkmark for Full Control under the Allow column for Everybody, click the Advanced button below the permissions window.
This will open the Advanced Security Settings for that folder.
Look at the Everyone line which should say Full Control and under Applies to should say This folder, subfolders, and files.
Place a checkmark in the box next to Replace all child object permission entries with inheritable permission entries from this object. Which means give all files and folders inside this folder the same security settings as this folder.
Be sure to click Apply and OK your way out to save your changes.
