    Several of you use Facebook all the time – and FB is becoming the news source for a lot of people. So, with my wife’s help, I’m dipping my toe in the

      I left you a PM on Facebook. To repeat it, the URL listed above will take you to the page, but if you put WoodyOnWindowsd in the Facebook search page you get bupkis, nada, nil, nothing.
      I also invited several friends to visit the page. Now, just how in the hell do I send a friend request to the page?
      Ah well, I’ve always got this page to come to.

      Facebook = the blackhole of productivity.

      @Jim

      As you noted, searching for AskWoody does get you there.

      I have no idea what kind of magic is at work. I’m hoping my wife can sort it out…..

      Your a braver man than I. I’ve never messed with FB nor wanted to.
      A couple years ago my brother went to a job interview and on the application they wanted his FB page. He is computer illiterate and does not use FB so he left it blank. They told him to sign up and let them know what his page is. At least that’s what he said. If true I find it to be scary stuff that perspective employers should need access to that kind of information.

      As with credit scoring, not having a Facebook Profile can be a red flag for employers. It’s like having a “thin record” with the credit bureaus. Employers assume you’re either a luddite (blakc flag in today’s tech-heavy workplaces) or you’re hiding something (going “off the grid”). These are really bad signs to any prospective employer.

      I fall inot both categories, plus I receive Social Security Disability payments (RSDI, also known as SSD). So I fall into the 80% category. As in, 80% of adult males with Asperger’s Disorder have no employment or a very thin track record of holding down gainful employment.

      Facebook is our bane, but it is also a lifeline. Think about reconsidering if you are avoiding fb over privacy concerns. You might just as well be avoiding banks and mutual funds over concerns about financial ID theft.

      That said, I still am still not on Facebook or any other Social Service (except Yahoo Groups and Google Drive, and several forums and comments communities).
