I searched this forum to find similar issues to mine but nothing seems to fit. Briefly, I got a wireless media desktop – Microsoft 1000, installed the software, had everything connected as it should be but it didn’t work. The system has recognized that new hardware is installed. I double-checked everything again, made sure batteries are good, but no joy. I reconnected my wired keyboard, using another wireless mouse to look for answers, but I found nothing that fit. I called Dell assuming as it’s their product and I just got delivery this morning I’d get some service but after 20 minutes wait gave up and I decided to post this. Any thoughts or suggestions?

AskWoody LoungerOctober 29, 2010 at 11:08 pm #1252668Well believe it or not this is the third time I’ve written a reply and the second time it didn’t appear (this time I’m copying it before saying “Add reply”. Don’t know what happened but it’s a first at the Lounge for me).
Thanks for the reply: much appreciated. I did wonder about interference but there’s nothing on here except on TV digital receiver (which is in another room). It’s puzzling and more than a little irritating. Believe it or not I don’t have a cell phone! Having lost my second one quite a few years ago, I waited a while hoping against hope someone would pick it up and call one of the numbers and I’d get it back. Then after a time I just felt set free and never got another one.

AskWoody LoungerOctober 30, 2010 at 4:54 pm #1252763I had the same problem with a ms 3000 keyboard and a seperate wireless mouse 6000.
What I found I needed to do was uninstall the old keyboard and mouse software and then re-install the new software and after that it worked fine.
Thanks for the feedback. The previous keyboard is a standard Dell wired so no option for removal. What irritates me is I had contacted Dell since my system is 2005 and wanted to be sure it was compatible, gave them my account and system information and they informed me it would work, no problem! on my XP system. I’ve been in touch with them again and will post back if they have anything helpful to say
but I’m beginning to think that this media does not work with XP. If they confirm again that it does I will uninstall and reinstall I guess.

Hi there, Yes, I did the software install first and then proceeded to connect the rest of it. A quick Google confirms that the media does work with XP http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/download/hardware/WMD1000FS_FINAL.pdf which I was beginning to doubt. I went to the site you suggested and downloaded Intellitype Pro 8.0 just in case, restarted etc.

AskWoody LoungerOctober 30, 2010 at 9:44 pm #1252809I’m so happy to say the issue is resolved.
I reinstalled the software, disconnected all, tried another USB Port, reconnected all, restarted and voila! I did get a couple of brief message displaying that the wireless connection was weak so I turned the receiver upside down (go figger) and it’s seems okay now. Can’t thank you all enough for your answers which encouraged me to keep trying. I hate giving up but I was getting there. And after all that I don’t like the keyboard touch which is seems delicate (I’m old school and a bit of a heavy-handed keyboard person); miss the larger Function keys big time: they’re still there but hardly noticeable they’re so tiny. I’ll persevere for a few weeks and try to get used to it since at my age my gray cells can use the workout!
Happy All Hallows Eve Loungers!
